FIFA have accused the FA of trying to "curry favour" with former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner in order to increase their chances of getting the 2018 World Cup. As much as I dislike the FA, I hate FIFA and this seems just a tad hypocritical from an organisation that cleared Qatar of any corruption. Maybe because they offered FIFA a massive bribe. I'm not saying the FA are innocent, but FIFA are so much worse and they've most likely been bribed by a very rich country.

So no country ever touts for support! There is networking and there is corruption...I have complete faith in the FA on that score. They are accused of paying 35K for a gala...35K is practically a bottle of fizz and a couple of canapés...hardly a bribe. Having FIFA look at corruption is like asking the Mafia to clean up Naples.

Blatter hates us, always has done. We were never going to get the World Cup even if the bid was the best. The depressing thing is he'll get re-elected and the only way he'll leave his post is when he dies at this rate.

And the russians lost the computers with all their information was stored so could not be investigated, so had no case to answer. Convenient loss there then.

They apparently rented computers and then gave them to schools...didn't the rental company object? Who rents computers, loads it with (presumably) sensitive information, then passes them on?

FIFA could have demanded an explanation but oh no, don't worry about it Russia, just an innocent mistake, I'm sure.

And the russian FA have not paid the international manager for 5 months, ideal scenario for preparations for their clean scandal free world cup.

    Sigh...

It'd be laughable if it wasn't so utterly depressing and predictable.

How on earth we have let this bunch run world football is beyond me. The FA may be a bunch of fuddy-duddies at times but i dont see them as corrupt. Fran's point about networking v corruption is spot on. But FIFA & UEFA are both very dodgy organisations imo.

And when he does pop his clogs in will come that great friend of English football Michel Platini. We're doomed, I tell ye...

If only we had a national team who were able to make these jokers worry about England actually winning a trophy.

I bet FIFA were laughing their heads off when the goal line controversy in 2010 happened to us.

Yes. If England were actually rather good, and would be missed from international competitions, we could through some weight around.
TBH I'd not care a jot if we refused to take part in the next 2 world cups. But money speaks, thus this report.

Chairman of the FIFA Ethics Committee, Michael Garcia, is to launch an appeal against the report and the summary issued by Eckert and FIFA.

Garcia: "The report published by FIFA is materially incomplete and contains erroneous representations of the facts and conclusions."

@ianprior: Michael Garcia, who headed Fifa's WC votes investigation, now essentially disowning Fifa's summary of his report today

@henrywinter: Fifa has to publish full Garcia report now as Garcia disputes Eckert's version of his report. Fifa now in even deeper hole.

FIFA is a complete disgrace to football. I hope this appeal sheds a lot of light.

One region apparently wouldn't cooperate at all. Sky went through the whole document...the only region not acknowledged in any way was Spain/Portugal!! Palios has said what we all feel really...not surprised that a few minor things have come up about the FA as we would cooperate fully. As he said, because we follow Anglo-Saxon laws and sense of what is right. We all know that when push comes to shove we are less corrupt than most countries.

Well obviously they compensated the rental company or they weren't rented at all anyway. The rest is no big deal. Remove HDDs and retain or destroy, replace with new, install OS, give away squeaky new computers with zero security risk.

The thing is, what happened to the HDDs..?
