I missed this story a couple of weeks ago, but it seems that FIFA have decided to ban the emergency loan window from 2014 onwards... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...des-emergency-loans-contravene-its-rules.html
I agree with your sentiments, there should be no transfer window anyway, for me it just seems to distort the market leading to teams having to pay higher prices because of the market that's been created within those conditions. It seems to be that as time goes on, those in the football league are getting more of the sh1tty end of the stick.
agreed on the state of FIFA. but i also agree that the emergency loan window is pants and needs scrapping. IMO, once the january transfer window shuts then that is that for the season. if you cannot get your squad sorted by then its too bad. but i would allow GK to be exempt from this ruling upto the middle of march in case of injuries only.
I agree with your argument but there would be huge downsides to having a constant transfer window, too. There would be constant irritating transfer speculation - imagine the Fabregas or Ronaldo saga without windows - and we'd live under constant fear that we may lose our best players. At least this way when we enter February we can relax until July.
As we're stuck with normal windows it's about time it was done away with. It's a farce and is just a way for clubs to ignore the normal transfer windows. Sign the loanees in the normal window or make do with what you've got. Goalkeepers are exempt from it at any time in the season anyway* so banning the EL window shouldn't change it. *If you only have one senior keeper fit you're allowed to sign someone on an emergency loan. NB: Ignore Warnock's bullshitting about it recently. QPR ****ed up re-signing a keeper they'd free transferred and then tried claiming despite being 20 and 18 months into a pro contract that they could recall him from his loan but he was a member of the youth team so they should be allowed to. The FA told them he clearly wasn't a member of the youth team because of his age and the fact he was on a pro contract, and then said that as even after recalling the 20 year old they were still picking an "injured" keeper to play ahead of him the injury clearly wasn't one to be concerned about.
