It's very slow on the transfer front this summer, so I thought we could steal something from the Southampton board. Basically, discuss FIFA 13 - what you would like to see improved in the game, what annoys you about FIFA 12, predicted Liverpool squad skills and so on. For me, there are a few things. 1) Bring back the curved graph for predicted player potential in Career mode, as a rough guide. 2) Manual upgrading of stats in Career mode, but not as easy as in previous games (2009 I think was the last to have manual stat upgrades). 3) Created/scouted players have generated in-game faces in Career mode, not black silhouettes. 4) Realistic transfers - this has been improved a lot, but I'd like to see prices based on form, contract length and the relative wealth of the selling/buying clubs. 5) Fix the passing - players will occasionally pass in the wrong direction and with far too much power. 6) Fix the opposition defenders - slow defenders catch up far too easily, the computer still smashes the ball half way down the pitch as soon as they get it and so on. It's very frustrating. 7) Ultimate team - players can play in any of their favourite positions, price cap on formation/positional cards, more lucrative tournaments, fix the overpowering of pace. 8) Any online mode - goal kicks need changing in some way so that you can pass the ball out. If we look at Liverpool's squad (I'll try to be realistic): 1. Jones (61) 2. Johnson (81) 3. Enrique (81) 5. Agger (84) 7. Suarez (86) 8. Gerrard (85) 9. Carroll (78) 14. Henderson (76) 16. Coates (75) 19. Downing (80) 20. Spearing (74) 21. Lucas (82) 22. D Wilson (70) 23. Carragher (76) 25. Reina (84) 26. Adam (79) 29. Borini (79) 30. Suso (65) 31. Sterling (67) 32. Doni (75) 33. Shelvey (75) 34. Kelly (78) 35. Coady (59) 36. Eccleston (59) 37. Skrtel (82) 38. Flanagan (67) 39. Bellamy (80) 42. Gulacsi (62) 47. Wisdom (59) 49. Robinson (66) - Adorjan (60) - Aquilani (81) - J Cole (77) - Ibe (58) - McLaughlin (57) - Morgan (61) - Pacheco (72) - Sama (56) Possible signings: Allen (79) - based on the jump up Charlie Adam got last season. Ramires (82) Dempsey (81) Johnson (82) Sinclair (77)
They've made a lot of improvements to the career mode with regards to player growth and transfers (Then again they say that every year) I disagree with some of your ratings though For me this is how I see our first 11 (with the current players) Reina 85 Johnson 82 Skrtel 81 Agger 84 Enrique 81 Lucas 83 Gerrard 85 Aquaman 81 Suarez 86 Borini 80 Bellamy 81 Bench of Doni 78 Kelly 79 Carra 78 Coates 76 Adam 80 Pacheco 78 Carroll 80
I think Borini started as 74 and was updated to 75 so I don't think he'll be 80 unfortunately, but here's hoping. Carroll was at the start. Pacheco... I'd be very surprised if he goes over 75, but again, here's hoping. Lucas is always under-rated in terms of ball control and passing, but I think they'll fix it. Song was 82 last season and nothing on Lucas so hopefully they fix that. Johnson they always seem to stick as 80-81, slightly under-rated but still fair enough. Adam has to go down, surely? Don't think Doni will go up from 76 either. Otherwise, pretty good!
is it bad to say that when my mate who stay up half the night playing fifa bout Fifa 11 and 12 i hated them SO much i never played them. since fifa 10 i simply HATE the interface and who frustrating it is to play at times. In fifa 10 i could play the very bloody worst team in the game and compete with the every best teams by passing it about and then kicking people but now defending is horrendous as players randomly select themselves and it just seems impossible to just pick up the controller and intuitively play in 5-10mins. why invent a game where you must be an aficionado from the previous version or you just can't play.
I think tactical defending is easy enough... means you can beat the poorer players who concentrate on flashy dribbling or pace players easier.
Yeah I was doing my ratings haha. I doubt FIFA will give any of our players credit like always (carrick 82 but Lucas 80?) I think borini will probably be given a 76, and pacheco a 73, but I'll be changing them to what I think they're worth before I start any career mode anyway
The Lucas rating is always criminal. They actually rated him more favourably when he arrived and was lambasted than now, as an established Brazilian international and key player. Borini's rating was criticised for being very low on FIFA 12, so I think he'll be near but not quite 80... But he'll have decent physical attributes and good finishing, so it won't really matter about his overall.
Downing, Carroll, Bellamy, and Gerrard are a bit high IMO. Although the ratings are always imbalances as it's just a calculation based on their other attributes (speed, ball control, dribbling ect.).
No... I'm a pretty damn good player, obsessed is probably the word. Sick of **** players on UT playing a team of pace players... It's boring, and most times I paste them, but if they do it right they score guaranteed goals that you literally can't stop.
Downing - 77 Carroll - 78 Gerrard - 82 Bellamy - 78 It's debatable buts that's where I see them as. 85 for Gerrard is based on his history and legacy at Liverpool, but he's not the player he used to be. He's still a goo player and I think an 82 is more justified for his current playing abilities. Downing is self explanatory, Carroll has potential to be a great player, but I think an 80 is a bit high right now. Bellamy is just on the decline IMO.
There's a blog somewhere created by a guy who has had a look at a demo of the game, to see all the new features etc. I'll try and locate it. What I do remember about it is that apparently you can now do 'player + cash' deals, and also have the ability to request a higher sum from bidding teams (something I always felt was missing.) Seems the transfer set up has been totally rethought by them, which is good news. I hope they let you edit kit numbers outside of career mode, too. I hate when you transfer a player in manually and they get assigned a random number (Borini was given 31 in my game...close enough I suppose.)
Gerrard's overall will always be high, look at the ratings for Scholes, Del Piero, Totti, Nesta etc - older players get good ratings but their physical stats go down. Gerrard, like Lampard, will always be pretty high based on his passing, shooting and ball control, freekick stats, vision etc. He'll just get slower and slower. Downing should go down, 82 was too high based on last season, but I'd be very surprised if he went down 5 in one go. Bellamy started FIFA 12 as 78 but increased to 80 in the last update, I can see him staying there, especially if he keeps doing well at the Olympics. Carroll is fair, he's a 78 at the moment, could be anything from 78-81 I think.
I'll give my view - Reina 84 Johnson 79 Skrtel 82 Agger 84 Enrique 81 Lucas 83 Gerrard 85 (Rep keeps him high) Aquaman 81 Suarez 86 Borini 78 Bellamy 80 Bench of Doni 78 (don't know him) Kelly 76 Carra 78 Coates 76 Adam 80 Pacheco 78 (who?) Carroll 78
