Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is lining up a shock move for Sunderland star Asamoah Gyan in a deal which would see Danny Welbeck make a permanent switch to the Stadium of Light. Man United v Chelsea tickets Sunderland v West Brom Live Streaming The Ghana striker has produced a string of impressive performances since joining the Black Cats for a record ã13million last summer, scoring nine goals in 27 appearances, and it now seems as if United are planning an audacious swoop for his services which would subsequently send Welbeck in the opposite direction. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was furious when striker Darren Bent left for Sunderland in January for ã24million and the last thing he wants is for his other star striker to orchestrate a move away - but the permanent signing of Danny Welbeck and an additional ã10million fee would soften the blow of losing Gyan. The on-loan United striker has enjoyed a successful loan spell on Wearside, scoring six goals in 22 appearances, and a deal involving the promising youngster could provide the incentive. The United boss enjoys a good relationship with his former player Bruce and will be hoping this helps in negotiating a deal for Gyan. The Ghanaian’s stock has risen since last summer’s World Cup when his three goals helped his country through to their first ever quarter-final. He netted the extra-time winner against the United States to set up a clash with Uruguay but then missed a penalty that would have made them the first ever African nation to reach the semi-finals. Gyan, who supported the Red Devils as a boy, revealed earlier in the season that he would consider leaving the Stadium of Light for Old Trafford if United came calling.
Bill - it's suggesting MUFC are going to attempt to swap Welbeck for Gyan, and is a load of codswallop if you ask me. Bear in mind I doubt we'd swap Henderson for Welbeck, there's no way we'd allow Gyan to leave in a similar deal.
if theyr'e gonna take the piss, maybe bruce should say he'd swap for berbatov, that'll make his nose redden
Am i the only one who thinks this deal is not as bad as everybody else is percieving it to be?I like Gyan don't get me wrong but i personally believe Welbeck although not quite there yet has the potential to be better than Gyan and the extra 10 million could be spent on a partner for Welbeck- maybe the french lad we're being linked with today- Gameiro don't know much about him however.
Gameiro is quality mate, he's one of the most agile players i've ever seen. He'll cost more than any ã10million mind, and has stated he wants to play in Spain. He's not very tall, i'd be suprised if we moved for him, but he's a very mobile player who uses the ball well, withoput scoring masses of goals .
Nice one Syd, but newspaper talk, although it grabs my attention, sometimes like the Mail usually tends to be written by a Big Cris clone. but then again I have to look, although I dont doubt Gyans quality for his country, I am not convinced he can storm the EPL, then again he IS playing for us, without much support, BOLLOCKS no support, no nothing. I would like to see him come good for us, but not convinced. still looking/hoping though.
without support we'll never know what he can do. 9 goals in 27 games, 1 in 3 hardly prolific, but he's capable of much more. micheal owen. 13 goals in 39 games, most from sub, 1 in 3, just shows how important support is
Berbatov is a Newcastle United fan he wouldn't join you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimitar_Berbatov
dont want Berbie, apart from scoring and making goals he does **** all, cant see how he would fit in, we do neither
Once again, has anyone considered what DW wants. Lets just wait till summer. BTW, still havent calmed down from Sunday. Useless tw@ts.
If Gyan asked to leave then i don't see any point in making him stay. I for one wouldn't blame him, he has been living off scraps for most of the season?
