Steve Bruce: I will go if it helps Sunderland
    by James Hunter, Evening ChronicleNov 28 2011Add a commentRecommend (1) inShare.0
STEVE BRUCE admits he would consider his future at Sunderland if he thought it would help the club. The Black Cats boss was the target of a barrage of abuse from the stands after Sunderland lost 2-1 to struggling Wigan at the Stadium of Light.

He insisted afterwards he has no intention of quitting, but then appeared to suggest he might reconsider if he felt it would be in the club's long-term interests.Bruce said: “I will never, ever walk away from abuse.

“Never. It is not in my nature.

“I am not the type to just accept defeat or walk away – I cannot stomach defeat, to be fair.

“It is in my nature to go home, keep my dignity, get back to work on Monday and try to turn things around.

“However, if I thought me going would help everybody, then I would consider it – but I don't think that at the moment. I just want to try and get it right.”
