It was all a bit of a blur at the time, did you make it mate?
I did indeed. One of the lads on here got me a ticket - Pops' son, struggling to remember his name just now (apols as he was brill at sorting me the ticket).
I lost my voice for a few days after that excursion. and it was almost gone before the match started.
The most fun/maddest away game experience I've had, with so many crazy little memories and side stories... definitely the best Sunderland match involving David ****wit Moyes!
Flew in from Helsinki that morning, had a wander round me old stomping ground of 20years ago til me Marra turned up on the train down from Durham. Checked in to hotel then made our way down to Shambles Square early. It was rocking by the afternoon, absolutely raving by early evening.
I couldn't get me mate a ticket so he camped back at the hotel and i made my way over to the match. and the rest is history. Cracking atmosphere right next to the Utd fans.
Little did I know it would be the last night/day/ session I had with (the last of) my 'old school' core mates. I knew he wasn't right as he'd always have chanced getting in, but his health deteriorated so quickly in the year after. I just wish he could have made the match & full night.
