http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/9450671.stm "United made a pre-tax loss of ã79m in 2010 but, by Uefa's measure, actually returned a positive break-even result of ã42m." Good to know. That ã42 million would cover amortised transfer spending of around ã160 million, so at least we know the FFP rule won't affect us. Tho' City and the Chavs look like they might be fooked. Also, I know some people think UEFA will back down and not ban City and Chelsea. But had the rules been in place this season, if those two were banned Spurs and 'pool would take their place, so the prestige of the CL wouldn't suffer all that much. It'll be interesting to see how seriously City and Chelsea take the new regs over the next few years...
I have a feeling that Man City will be okay and all fans at the Walt Disney City of Manchester Stadium will agree no doubt.
The rich clubs will be given a green light ironically due to money and revenue. Yes I'm that cynical.
Alot of respect for United as they try and develop some talent instead of just bringing in the big names like the 2 blue sides.
Which talent specifically are you referring to? The Twins and Hernandez I would go for, can't really think of anyone else?
Nani, Ronaldo and Smalling perchance? And then of course there's Evra and Vidic who weren't particularly well known when we signed them, Anderson, Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf and Cleverley who we're still developing and Fletcher, O'Shea, Brown, Evans, Gibson, Giggs and Scholes in our current squad who we've developed pretty much from scratch Even talented youngsters who don't make it at United still tend to go on to top flight careers - Richardson, Campbell, Cathcart, Shawcross, Bardsley, Jones, Spector, Phil Neville, Pique and Rossi spring to mind. I think only West Ham compare to United in terms of the number of current top flight players they have developed.
You still haven't named the only two Chelsea academy players to have played more than 100 games for the Chelsea first team over the past two decades. Another 19 games and Jonny Evans will become the 10th player to do the same for United...
