Let's hope this turns out to have some substance.... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/aug/18/qpr-fine-financial-fair-play-8m
Is this not the amount that we would have been due to pay from our published accounts? The Football League could have earned a reasonable amount of interest by now if they had accepted them in the first place!
Let's not forget that with the current court proceedings going on, a legal precedent could be set that sees the whole thing chucked out. The football league could be trying to get us to agree to a little something now , rather than get sweet FA (pun intended) later. Just a thought.
This whole FFP thing is a joke. Clubs will always find ways around it. It sounds good in principle but it's something that doesn't work (a bit like Communism, people always abused the ideology). You will always have clubs that are rich and will bring in more money than other clubs. The Football league are muppets and like what Quality said, they are trying to get what they can.
This is exactly right. The FFP cannot afford a bad precedent set by having its questionable (and probably anti-competitive) rules held illegal or unenforceable by arbitrators. I imagine QPR will have appointed first rate lawyers who have identified big holes in the FL's arguments. The hearing date may be coming up and the League just don't fancy playing Russian Roulette. Of course, there'll be other league clubs that have been punished more, for less than QPR has done - if the Guardian report is true, their directors will whinge like hell - but that's their problem, paying up rather than challenging the validity of the rules...suckers...
What a @@@@@@ that bloke is. In the past QPR fans have supported many clubs that were in trouble and united as fans. I remember Pompey and Saints getting loads of QPR fans support and i am sure some of our fans supported the Brighton plight in the past so you would think people like him would keep quiet when its about another club.
In general Ellers I totally agree with your sentiment. If the Brighton Chairman is sticking his head above the parapet to slate us, when it has nothing to do with him, (which he totally did) I don't have a problem with it going back the other way. Not aware of S'ton or Portsmouth fans or staff sticking their two pence worth in.
Not related to this but I'm keeping an eye on Bournemouth. Not a massive club but with money to spend due to rich ownership. Also keen to see if they fail like we did being the promoted squad has at least eight or so new additions which as we found out can mess things up. I'm not a hating kind of guy and wish them all the best as I think its good for football to see a smallish club like them to reach the top flight. For me they have the same ingredients to mess it up like we did and get fines etc if or when it fails.
They will most likely do OK as Mark or Harold are not picking the team or doing the QPR style formation and line up lottery numbers!
Even more jealous that they've realised Bobby Zamora spends more time on the physio bench than the pitch.
Oh I do love Bobby, but just for that one moment of euphoria last May. If it wasn't for that would we see him any better than SWP or Andy Johnson?
Oh yes! For me he scored the goal of the season last season too, when he chipped over their Keeper with the outside of his boot, way out on the right wing.
