For those of you that are going on Sunday, I was just wondering where you are thinking of going for your pre match pint or two? I do not want to be sipping my refreshing beer with a pub full of Chelsea fans. All comments welcome even if you cannot attend Sundays match.
I think the authorities designate which Wembley pubs are for Spurs fans and which are for Chelsea fans. They certainly used to do that, but haven't seen anything on news on that for Sunday. Last time we were there, I ignored the pubs and drank in the stadium. Bit pricey, but tasted ok and there was a decent atmosphere in the bars, although probably not as good as in the pubs. The Green Man pub is always a decent place to go. The Torch at the top of Wembley Way is another popular spot, but is a bit of a dump these days.
Thanks Spurcat, yeah i seemed to remember having designated pubs, I am thinking of going up around lunch time, to soak in the atmosphere of course so going into the stadium at that time wouldnt be possibly.
The pubs around Wembley are ****, get off a few stops early and then grab the tube up to the stadium. The Globe at Baker St is good but I think the police decide who that'll go to. For the Portsmouth game I met a friend in West Hampstead and we had our pre game drinks around there, only a handful of Pompey fans but a load of Spurs fans and it was all well natured, with a lot of singing.
Apparantly, we are being advised to use Wembley Central Station with Chelsea fans using Wembley Park Station. So, I guess it's logical to assume our designated pubs are those closest to Wembley Central. Unfortunately, I have no idea what they are.
Wembley gets chopped in half and policed as such, with no mix of fans...Chelsea one half, Tottenham the other...very much like at the Millenium in Cardiff. At least that was how it worked againmst Everton a couple of years back You'd hope that was the case as 30k of each lot of fans after a days drinking is bound to show the few idiots up who actually want trouble.
im afraid its the couch for this one for me...but let it be known..i shall have a drink for you Yids at the match cheering the boys on.....
cheers SSA..do the team proud and lets hope they do us proud..the first one is always religiously for the fans.....im getting into FA Cup mode slowly and today i shall order my 20 quids worth of the finest green skunk for the occasion. COYS!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely ****ing stupid. And the Liverpool v Everton game is 12:30pm? What's that all about...they have to travel 200 miles each bloody way as well, all from the same city...
Couldnt agree more, having 30,000 Spurs and 30,000 Chelsea fans drinking all day is bound to cause trouble. But TV is more important than safety....isnt it???
Even make the Saturday game a 3pm as well so that everyone gets there in good order...trains and the M6/ M1 will be absolute bedlam.
I am coming from South London and the Trains are a nightmare, loads of cancelled trains, problem at Clapham Junction I think.
They are working hard to make it as awkward as possible. This must have thought long and hard how to piss everyone off. Seems they got it spot on.

The Met Plod advised the FA to make the Liverpool v Everton semi an early KO to prevent supporters drinking before the game, pubs in the area can only open after the game has been in progress half an hour and anyone caught with a carry out will have it confiscated. Ffs theres never (well hardly)ever any grief between us and the blueshite yet the plod allow two local (London) clubs whose supporters have a history of 'dislike' to drink all day before the game.
