With the Hock likely to be shown the door if reports tonight are to be believed, I am giving you the chance to put forward your case for the man you think should be the head COACH at Elland Road. Please look at the coaches Cellino hired while in charge of Cagliari in the list below, one thing you will notice is he hires coaches from the lower leagues with not much experience. So I would suggest you will not be seeing Tony Pulis or Roberto Di Matteo here anytime in the near future! Franco Colomba– Dec 17 2006 – Feb 26 2007 Marco Giampaolo– Feb 26 – Nov 13 2007 Nedo Sonetti– 2007 Davide Ballardini– Dec 28 2007 – Jun 30 2008 Massimiliano Allegri– May 29 2008 – Apr 13 2010 Giorgio Melis Apr 13 – Jun 30 2010 Pierpaolo Bisoli– Jun 23 – Nov 15 2010 Roberto Donadoni– Nov 16 2010 – Aug 12 2011 Massimo Ficcadenti– Aug 16 – Nov 8 2011 Davide Ballardini– Nov 9 2011 – Mar 11 2012 Massimo Ficcadenti– Mar 11 – Oct 3 2012 Ivo Pulga– Oct 3 2012 – Jun 30 2013 Diego López– Jul 1 2013 – Apr 06 2014 Ivo Pulga– Apr 06 – Jun 20 2014 My 2 for the job: PAOLO DI CANIO: Positives: Can speak both Italian & English Has coached/manged in England Won promotion with Swindon Is very strict with the players regarding training Runs up and down the touch line like a madman Negatives: Fiery temper so might clash with our leader Cellino GIANLUCA FESTA Positives: Speaks both Italian & English Assistant to head coach Cagliari Cellino thinks highly of him Negatives: Not coached in England Not been a head coach before Played for Boro These are the two I think have a shot at the job should Hock be sacked soon, your thoughts?
Cellino & Zola do not get on after their time in Italy, no chance them teaming up. (I would of like Zola to)
Can't see it being Di Canio either. Cellino wants a yes man, can you imagine Di Canio being told what to do ? Would probably be sacked quicker than the Hock. With Cellino's already established habit for back-tracking, wouldn't be surprised to see Carbone get it at some point. Looked like he was being groomed for the job until something went tits-up.
Would like Zola tonged a shot but realistically it'll be someone we've never heard of again unfortunately
New man will be Neil Redfearn won't cost anything, he will be left in charge on a temporary basis or until things go tits up. It certainly won't be a top drawer guy
I think it could well be Redfearn it certainly will not be anyone expensive so the last Spurs boss Tim Sherwood will not be in the frame Steve Evans of Rotherham perhaps we shall see
Evans from Rotherham is bloke in the mold of his idol SAF, and that means he won't stand interference from above. Bringing in an Italian coach will again highlight the difference in class and fight between the championship and Seria B. You need to understand the league, the teams, the tactics and money, along with analysing the thing that all promoted teams have in common. So I don't think a foreign coach will come in. Gary Mac for me.
Redfearn might not be our first choice, but I can think of worse options. That said, apparently Cellino has decided to sleep on it. So anything's possible, even BMD returning. On the fun of being a Leeds fan. It's never easy!!!!
One thing is for absolute certain, given our history of appointments, whoever it is will be a failure and will get up the supporters noses within weeks of taking over
I can't get my head round the fact that Cellino will invest in (decent?) players but brings in a coach who quite clearly doesn't have a clue and is well out of his depth, and on the cheap. G Mac for me, or try for that Paul Clement from Real Madrid.
Cellino has been investing in mainly younger players and most are loan signings with a view to purchase, they are an asset that should increase in price. When it comes round to new contracts if they don't sign he can sell them and at least get his money back or make a profit. The coach is dead money as in you can't sell him and if you sack him it costs you a lot I read somewhere once about how much Cellino has made over his time in player signings and sales, it is quite a chunk.
He managed to keep Cagliari i profit for 20 odd years mainly in Italian top flight with gates of 5k. No mean achievement and shows he is clearly nobodies fool
I totally agree so I am not sure why your comment is aimed at me? I am pointing out that he doesn't invest in a coach like he does a player because a coach isn't an asset and he isn't scared to get shot of them if they do not perform.
That would be the same Cagliari who were champions of Italy in 1970 and had average home attendances of 30,000 when Cellino took over
