suggest this one is taken with a pinch of salt a whole clove some fresh nutmeg and a slug of brandy .... http://www.surreymirror.co.uk/Chels...icester-City/story-25727335-detail/story.html
Apparently he was on around £250k a week at Chelsea ... he'd get a 10th of that with us but with Melton Mowbray pork pie goal bonuses (so he's unlikely to get fat)
You say it like it'd be a bad thing? Torres is clearly out of our league, he's one of the best goalscorers the Premiership has ever seen.
Well yeah id have him but cant see it being true at all! I can see the truth in the enquiry but not a chance he would be interested.
We have enough strikers who can't hit the back of the net. We don't need another one, especially for the amount he'd cost. Torres' best days are long gone.
We don't create enough chances for a good striker, although it would be an interesting signing to say the least.
Obviously this wont happen but i cant believe people are saying no. Yes, at CHELSEA he hasnt worked out but he is still a £50m striker (i know price doesnt affect ability) who won the world cup with spain and is still only 30 years old. Realistically, yes he is better than Ulloa who was playing for Brighton last year. There appears to be a culture of always saying no to 'these sort' of players when realistically he is better than any other player in our team. Like i said, wont happen but people shouldnt be so dismissive.
Ed- Whilst i know you are probably right, i also saw the same argument being used for us getting Rio Ferdinand last year.... Ive also seen others say no to Lampard over the past few seasons
Why pay a shedful of money for an out of form striker with a large ego? Leicester would be better off spending far less cash on a young, hungry striker looking to make his mark in the game From a neutral point of view, it's a case of "Do Leicester really want Torres?", rather than "Does Torres want to play for Leicester?".
Oh i entirely agree with you, but its more the fact of the fans thinking they dont want 'torres' (not his wages) as they think he is not good enough when he actually is a top striker, just not a 'world class' one.
It's not happening either way, but I imagine that every club south of 7th/8th wouldn't mind having him. We all know how good he can be, it's about giving him the confidence again. Being the main man at one of those clubs would do it IMO. Obviously the price needs to be reasonable too.
What are you on about? Are you trying to suggest that Torres wouldn't be good enough for a side at the bottom half of the Premiership? If so, then I know who has absolutely no idea what-so-ever.
Torres IMO was the best striker in the world while he was at Liverpool. I don't believe for one minute he would come here but I think most of the Prem clubs would take a punt on him. If he shows even a 1/4 of the player he was for Liverpool you have yourself a top top striker
