http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/mer...&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=diario_sport This is saying that he will announce his move to Arsenal in a presser tomorrow. His buy-out clause is 36 million Euros, but could possibly have been cut down as his contract expires next summer. Top player, but this article says that this move would most likely mean the depature of van Persie though :/
It's started off as a tabloid story in a local paper in his city. Don't buy into it it'll only disappoint you!
If this is true then it would mean a world class striker joining us. He is quality. He has good strength, ball skill, good in the air and scores loads. I would say a BIG YES!
He is a top striker, but he'd cost 30 million, and i don't see Wenger paying that much, even if we sell RvP. The most likely striker we'll sign is Giroud.
If we sell RVP then we need to have the guts to use all the proceeds to replace with the hghest quality....its not your money Wenger so stop worrying about it!
Why are we talking like this? We've been brainwashed by all the garbage the Arsenal administration has been spouting all this time. If we lose RVP then use the money plus more to get a top quality replacement. I don't want no tescos value brand coming in! Giroud couldn't touch RVPs jockstrap after a very hot curry at Brick Lane. We should be looking for class of a Lorente or something and still keep RVP. I just heard Chelsea getting Hazard, well they are getting stronger by the day and we've yet to hear what the other 3 teams will bring in. Saying that, Man City don't really need anyone else....
Lorente and Giroud are not in the same league as RVP, make no mistake if RVP leaves then these players will be a step down. RVP on his day is up there with Ronaldo and Messi and he has shown what he can do in a season without injuries, the other two strikers have not even played in our league so we cant call them ideal replacements as they are untested in the best league in the world.
Have the likes of Llorente and Giroud been consistently good? I see they've both had excellent seasons but one swallow does not a summer make and all that sh*t. Darren Bent once got 24 league goals in a season but if you told me we were signing him as an RVP replacement I'd rip your penis off (or boobs should you be female/a fatty - I don't discriminate)! Should we have to lose Van Persie then I'd hope we'd spend as much as we're able to fill the void. I honestly haven't seen either play (possibly Llorente once) so can't judge either to say if they'd fit our system/league.
I've seen Llorente play and he is class, rest assured. I'm not sure about Giroud but i'd much rather take Llorente as the Spanish league is far superior and seems to be churning out some quality players of recent, compared to France. Also anyone playing for the Spanish international team is the real deal. As for him fitting our system, he would be a perfect fit. He is strong, skillfull on the ball and a top finisher.
I don't doubt that (I'm sure he is a very good player) what I doubt is him being able to fill RVP's shoes. This season RVP has thrived up front and that was with a relatively poor midfield who did not create that many chances for him, resulting in him scoring some absolute wonder goals and creating chances himself. I question whether Llorente could handle playing upfront with relatively poor service in a much more difficult league.
Llorente stats: 2011-12: 17 goals (total shots 79), 1 assists (30 goals in all comps) 2010-11: 18 goals, 2 assits (24 goals in all comps) Giroud stats: 2011-12: 21 goals (total shots 160), 9 assists (24 goals in all comps) 2010-11: 12 goals, 3 assits (12 goals in all comps)
I think it's a very important piece of information. Firstly, we know that the Spanish league is of a higher standard than the French. The number of shots also tells you how hard it is to get a shot off in a competitive league. Now let us look at the best striker of our league and the the best in the Spanish league. RVP stats: 2011/2012: 30 goals (total shots: 174) Benzema stats: 2011/2012: 21 goals (total shots: 100) Falcao stats: 2011/2012: 24 (total shots: 124) Look at the amount of shots taken from RVP (174) and Benzema (100). It's easier to get shots off in the Premiership and French leagues than La Liga.
It is interesting. Even more so for Llorente's 79 shots. 79?! In an entire season. That's not even 3 a game.
