Linked with Chelsea. Why don't we make a bid?

Surely wont go to Chelsea, they've got "target man" sort of players in Drogba and Lukaku already. If you wanted to play RVP as a second striker again I think he and Llorente would be class together.

We need another big quality striker alongside Van Persie, to give us more rotation options (RVP can't play 90mins every single game) and to make sure we don't find ourselves in problems should RVP get injured; Park, Gervinho or Oxo aren't going to provide enough goals up-front should they be required to play as the sole striker. We're good for every other position, but we need another big name striker to secure ourselves, and we have the money to in the January window.

This is a great point, people have been suggesting for a while that we should buy more players, central defence was one position that people have been moaning about for the last couple of years. If we had bought players when people wanted purely to cover injuries, then we would have about 10 CBs. The problem arises when everyone is fit, we then have loads of players sitting on the wage bill that are unlikely to be used (and its not that easy to sell them, as we have found out), they then create noise about not playing and this can have an effect on other players and the team. We have seen this already with arshavin, it works at clubs like city because these players are on so much money. Take ade at city, the guy has pretty much been humiliated, and told that he is not wanted, city are even willing to pay someone to take him away (as there still paying part of his wages). Yet its still unclear whether ade will leave city and take the inevitable pay cut.

I also think people are being unfair on park, the guy has played 3 or 4 games, yet people are writing him off, some people did the same with RVP when he first arrived at the club, the guy will need a sustained run of games (10+) before we will know if he is good enough or not, the signs from my point of view is that he will be a good player for us.
