Sep.22 (GMM/Inautonews.com) Caterham owner Tony Fernandes has admitted the teamâs latest recruit could âeventuallyâ take over as boss. The team announced on Friday that Cyril Abiteboul, until now the deputy managing director at engine supplier Renault, has signed up as Caterhamâs chief executive. For now, Fernandes remains in charge. But the Malaysian entrepreneur admitted on Friday that he is ânot as involvedâ in the team as he could be, hence Abiteboulâs appointment. Fernandes also runs his airline AirAsia, the leisure group Tune, and is the chairman of his English football club Queens Park Rangers. âI am not as involved (in F1) so the team needs leadership,â Fernandes said in Singapore. âCyril has been someone that Iâve courted for a while and weâve finally persuaded him, with Renaultâs blessing, to come over to Caterham.â Asked whether Abiteboul is now Caterhamâs new team principal, Fernandes answered: âNot at the moment, no. âI will still remain in that job for a while. Eventually, maybe.â by Mircea Serafim (my Google+) - Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 - filed under Motorsport. Image credit: . Visited 279 times, 279 so far today
