The Malaysian businessman completed his takeover at Loftus Road less than a year ago and has been quick to try to improve the squad and facilities. Rangers have already announced plans to move to a state-of-the-art training ground next summer and have now turned their attention to finding a plot for a new stadium. "We're working this week [on the stadium]," Fernandes said. "I am getting a full report on one of the pieces of ground. I think we have three potential choices and we are going to evaluate it and then take it to the shareholders. It has actually not even been a year that we have owned this club and I am very pleased with the kind of progress we have made in one year. If we can continue at this kind of pace, then things should look good at QPR." QPR, who only narrowly avoided relegation last season, have also brought in a number of players over the summer. Ryan Nelsen, Andrew Johnson, Robert Green, Samba Diakite and the loanee Fabio da Silva have already joined Mark Hughes's squad and more additions are likely. "We're rebuilding so obviously [we're active]," said Fernandes. "There may be three or four more, we'll have to wait and see. I am guessing, though. The target was to try and do as much as business [as we could] before pre-season so that Mark would have as much time as possible to work on the team. We're pushing hard. We've given some players deadlines to say: 'If you want to come to us, you have to come to us now', so let's see."
This makes me very happy. A properly sourced story, Tony saying all the right things for the long term and that 'there may be 3 or 4 more ( players )' line. You Rrrrssss!!!!!
Excellent news - Clearly the club are having the usual problems with potential signings, where players and their agents will try to take things down to the wire in the hope of a better offer from us or a competitor, while MH wants his squad settled for the pre-season friendlies.
Yup, dont let them go around club to club trying to bleed more money out of them. Give them an offer, tell them they have 2 weeks to consider it or we will look for someone else. Thats the way Id run things too.
I still have to pinch myself, I used to dream about us having an owner like this. The thing is, TF is even better than I dreamed of.
Think back 1 year ago NW having to sell so that we could spend 1mil and try to build a prem squad from zero backing, pinch yourself, and look how far we have come
More absolutley amazing news! As flyer said, you do have to laugh at Norwich and Wet Spam when they rejected him. He has been nothing but good news for our club, and it is amazing just how opposite he is to the previous goons.
I know tony is the front man but Amit and mr mittal should not be forgotten. they could easily have walked away when the goons refused to sell to them. so to both gentlemen I salute you.
I doubt the BBC site will be considered due to the building constraints of the listed parts of the fascia. I've often thought that Wormwood scrubs would be perfect, but after doing a little checking it is considered an important nature area for birds. I think this would result in lengthy legal battle with all the bird watchers, but ultimately would be down to H&F Council. I would imagine the Unigate site is the preferred site as it could easily be linked to Westfield and the connecting transport hub there. There is also no residential flats on any side of the land, apart from a few pikeys that will need moving on. The problem with the site is it was bought by developers to be part of the White City regeneration project, but again this would be down to the council and whether we can buy it from the developers.
Thats always been my feeling too. T&C wanted to rip off Mittal so Mittal got TF to buy in his name. i think Mittal puts in virtually all of the money and TF just runs it.
TF seems to be doing everything the right way, not bankrupting the club to stay in the Prem, but doing it sensibly and with MH at the helm I feel that we are heading in the right direction at the right pace to sustain growth. We all have opinions on who we should buy or loan but TF and MH seem to be on the same track getting quality in at the right price and therefore improve season on season. We all know what happens to the clubs (Leeds etc.) that throw a huge amount of money in one go that can't be sustained, and when the bubble bursts there is nowhere to go but down and down. I have never been more confident that we are on the up at a sustainable rate. Even found a QPR Head cover for my Driver and getting one for my Putter in 2 weeks for my birthday. Am also surprised at the number of people on the golf course who say 'who is the QPR supporter' and find they are too. Brilliant times right now.
