    Fernandes focusing on the positives
    October 22, 2012
    Recommend5Tweet1EmailPrintBy Harry Harris, Football Correspondent

Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes has continued to back manager Mark Hughes despite the side being without a win after eight Premier League games this season

QPR earned a point against Everton on Sunday, as Junior Hoilett's early strike was cancelled out by a Julio Cesar own goal, but they remain bottom of the table.

Hughes has come under pressure following a disappointing start to the campaign, yet Fernandes remains firmly behind the Welshman, who took over from Neil Warnock in January 2012.

Fernandes wrote on his official Twitter account: "Good point. Lots of work to do. Everton are a top side. We were unlucky with some ref calls. Bring on Arsenal.

"I thought the team performed really well, lots of positives. The team appeared to have worked hard in training."

A number of fans were frustrated by QPR's ongoing search for a win, but Fernandes pleaded for them to be patient and get behind the team.

He said: "Stop wasting your time and energy on negative tweets. QPR needs time and stability. We have a great squad, great manager, great CEO. (It) takes time and a bit of luck. See you at the Emirates."

I honestly can't see us getting anything at the emirates infact i can't see where a win will come from which is very worrying. Is the league table still not telling the truth? We are bottom and its as simple as that! Even if we have played well or seen progress it matters none. The only saving grace is the fact that others above have not pulled away.....yet!!

If he's such an expert maybe he can tell us how we intend to address the following weaknesses, because I do not see any signs of improvement.

    1. Set pieces - we can't defend them. Give the opposition four and they'll score one.

    2. Attack - we can't break down a well organised defence and teams that sit back. We cannot expect wide open spaces against every team.

Until we address the above, I can't see where our next win will come from either. For once I agree with TF, lots of work to do.

I agree with this 100%. The one thing that worries me about the attack is how ineffectual our strikers are at the moment. I understand Bobby is not an out and out finisher, but Cisse looks totally disinterested at the moment and to be honest, without him firing on all cylinders I dont see where the goals are going to come from.

My take on TF's tweets and communication methods is probably well known already. On the current sitation, if he has blurted to the press the ultimatum we keep hearing about without having told us, the ones who actually matter, it will destroy his credibility completely. After all, he is telling us completely the opposite. Perhaps he already knows that fans are as fickle as owners and is resigned to the flak coming his way. If Alan Green's source is reliable, TF derserves everything coming to him.

Bob, I thought it was an important point for that very reason. It keeps us in contention in the relegation league, even though we are bottom!

Tony's tweets are fine if we are a slow waking giant or a canny Mo Farah running from the back and saving energy. On the other hand...... let's not even go there.

And just what has he got coming to him? I'm still looking at a bloke who is investing large wads of his personal fortune into the small unglamorous football club that I have loved since a boy. IMO that gives him the right to be as fickle as he likes as long as he is doing it for that same love of the club.

His personal fortune? Thought he had a consortium behind him. Appearences can be deceptive:

OK,I hadn't realized that some were now questioning TF's motives and drivers as well as MH's alleged incompetency. There is no way Fernandez can play at this level without making a very significant investment himself IMO. I think that topic really deserves a thread in its own right if any doubter wants to stick their head above the parapet to start it. Personally I don't know what he's done to deserve it.

We dodged a bullet with this bloke.

He has made almighty mess with your club and it could so easily have been us.

Gold and Sullivan have their faults, but they know how to run a football club.

Have a look at the history of Air Asia and Malaysian Airways. All is not what it may seem.

Really not sure what to make of fernandes. At first he seemed like the white knight, said everything right etc....now I'm wondering whether he's the real deal. I don't doubt his intentions, just his ability to do things the right way. His tweets, the fan fare with Park, using the club to promote his airline in July etc., we're a football club, we don't need PR. I can't honesty name the chairman/owner of most clubs in the EPL yet he is everywhere which is why we're copping so much flak from the media and rivals. I'm sure most other clubs try to stay away from the spotlight and use success on the pitch to draw the attention. Fernandes wanted the world to look at us before we'd even kicked a ball this season!!
