Bendtner is, in my opinion, the worst excuse for a striker I have ever had the great fortune of seeing playing in a Sunderland shirt, or any shirt for that matter, and I once got stuck up there by a very desperate Under 14s high-school coach because we were losing ten nil and the goalie was crying(by which I reckon everyone knows I'm referring to the P.E teacher)...

Let's have a little comparison with your other potential captures, to mockingly illustrate my point (in absolutely no way, it's my opinion. Can't prove it, not sad enough to look through youtube clips).

Bendtner vs Crouch vs an ikea wardrobe (vs Predator for the easy money):

Finishing ability(meat and bones of striking)- Bendtner: On a scale of 1-shocking, 39 (the highest available on such a scale)... His long shots are, at times, fairly good, but his heading of easy chances is, well, you guys know where I'm going eh? ;)
Crouch: The chap is an enigma. Smithy should have changed the line to "Everything about you tells me you should be rubbish at football, and you are", but god help me when he slaps an awkward skinny limb at a mere mortals head height, you know that volley is going to bumble off his shins/studs/face and rocket in. His finishing otherwise is pretty championship level, and his heading for a big man is almost as bad as Bendtner's.
Ikea Wardrobe: Let's face it, the finishing is crap. It's falling apart within weeks, and why wouldn't it, my gran has brittle bones that would make better wardrobe material than the chipboard **** that costs us £200.

    Pace:
Bendtner does beat the other two on this. Let's face it, the ikea wardrobe is pretty static until the thing collapses under the weight of a couple of coat-hangers, and Crouch is even more immobile.

    Heskey type:
(Thank god you didn't end up with him, Brucey bloody loves him...)
Bendtner: Provides little for the team upfront, even when surrounded by skillful feckers like Arsenal used to have. Even Rosicky could outmuscle the lad.
Crouch: Ah, now he can provide. He stands there and long balls hit off his head. Any onrushing players getting on the end of it may get a chance. Also, the opposition have to mark him with their tallest player (out of courtesy rather than any tactical threat, I assume), so better players in the air can have better chances to score.
Ikea Wardrobe: He could hold up an entire team's kit if built right (out of none ikea parts most likely). Useful.

    Experience:
Bendtner: Very experienced for his age, perhaps his best quality to my mind. Champions league (not that that seems to be Short's ambition), International, Premier League.
Crouch: Well, he's been ridiculously phenomenal at International level, even whilst standing still, it seemed. Beckham's crosses would just rebound off the gangly fellow into the net. He shares the same level of experience roughly as Bendtner.
Ikea Wardrobe: Had the experience of a blonde haird, blue eyed swede lovingly slotting his section A peg into it's section B hole.

    Overall:
Crouch would have been more likely to be the 15 goal man you're looking for (though more like 10-12), Bendtner's just got the confidence of top-class player and will perhaps give you more goals than the 0 upfront policy Bruce seems to like, and Ikea Wardrobe would be past it's best in 2 years, but isn't even as ugly as Crouch and probably would have scored that Bendtner chance today.

I welcome comments/criticism/banter/and slating. It's your forum, you can hold whatever opinion you like of this.

Sincerely good luck with the rest of the year, except the St. James clash of course. Hopefully we can fecking buy Ikea Wardrobe to end our own striker shortage, or else force Mrs Ameobi into having more kids...

I cannot believe that we had 10 ****ing million to spend on **** like Crouch, but not a LB or LW?!!!?!!

I wasn't happy with just Gyan and Bendnter, but i thought to myself at least we can play two up front, WRONG! Now we're with two completely inexperienced players (not their fault, the fat twats fault) and Bendnter and if he's injured we're ****ed which just tells the whole story doesn't it

Tell us about it. We can't get a striker when we've had 7 months to find one... No... We wait for the last hour before bidding for someone just because Fulham did...

I'd be inclined to blame Bruce for your efforts, because, bar the exceptional signing, Dugarry for Brum, N'Zogbia for Wigan, Best for you lot, his transfers are woeful, and his teams end up going backward... But Sunderland supporters are blaming a number of people, including Quinn and Short. Pretty sure a Mag like me doesn't know your affairs better than you.

A short post to prove you're a rather rude chap. I prefer not knowing about football and being long-winded, if that's the choice. But I know Sunderland fans entirely underwhelmed by Bendtner's arrival, and my light-hearted post isn't entirely wide of the mark according to some people (with obviously better knowledge than mine)...

that post actually cheered me up a bit, was funny.

for the record i'm glad we got bendtner in rather than spending £10m on crouch, but echo TVI's sentiments, why the **** wasn;t that money then spent elsewhere, when we've needed to replace bent for the past seven months, and bruce must have known more about gyan than him just showing up in the middle east today in a purple shirt with some arabs and saying he wasn;t coming back

I really want answers, wtf did we spend 8 mill on Wickham (I have nothing against him and i think he'll be a top player) when we need some who was ready!? Not once in his whole time here have we signed a left sided player despite, he himself acknowledging our weakness there, why?!
