In all the doom and gloom (rightly so) can I just say I was impressed by the young lad when he came on.

Although, if Enrique is injured I hope we dont play the lad at LB against Stoke.

Wouldn't want him to play against Stoke, if Enrique were injured i'd play Saylor as he has a bigger presence, even if he is carp.

Gotta agree with you on both points!

He's a good little player...Just been talking to a girl at Newcastle Uni who is friends with Paddy McLaughlin as well, I'm liking the Northern Ireland connections at our club!

Spenny eh? What school did/do you go to?

Thought the lad did well. Very bright going forward. Don't know about Stoke. Think he'd be okay in open play but would worry about him being out-muscled defending corners and long throws.

Noticed that Pardew brought him over for a few touchline pointers as the game went on, but before getting on. He definitely seems to be grooming him for the future.

Fair enough, don't suppose you know either Daniel or Adam Watson do ya? In the Army/RAF respsctively, Dan is 22, Adam is probably about 20?

Only problem for me with this is the physical side of the game you need at stoke, doubt he'd be able to cope...

I think he'd struggle against Stoke but I'm looking at him really positivly. People are constantly saying we need left back cover and TBH i'm happy with him as second choice left back

This. Pardew seems to want him to play left back as it kills two birds with one stone, he becomes second choice in a position so can get game time and we have good left back cover.

Just been saying on another thread that the introduction of Fergusson was the best part of the game for us. He looked good aginst Chelsea in the Carling Cup last year and had a good game against Accrington, I'm surprised that we haven't seen more of him. He's got a good future in the game and I hope it'll be with us.

I did think that Harper should have been able to stop the second goal too, it seemed to take him ages to try and get down to it. Of course the ref didn't help matters with his very bad performance. Got loads of decisions wrong and gave free kicks to the blues after their players had fouled our players.

    A game to forget. Hopefully.

Got to have a much improved performance against Stoke.
