People say he is good back up for Enrique and I would agree with this. Also Pardew says he sees him as a left back, but after watching him this season it has come clear to me that his best position would be on the wing.

He has good skill, a good cross, a good shot and he does track back well, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable defensively with him starting left back all season, if that ever were to happen.

What does everyone think, left back or left mid?

  2. Left mid. I think he'd be a good Left back and he's done a decent job there, but left mid is where i'd like him to play.

I agree with this, but surely you must think he can play better in one position than the other?

Not really, it all depends on his development. At his age he could excel at either.

I see left midfield as his best position but he can play both.

He's versatile in a very different way to Perch.

Perch plays all positions at CCC level whilst Ferguson is likely a top level CCC defender and a PL midfielder.

he definitley looks at home on the wing, and too lightweight to play LB

He has every attribute of a pacey winger, and virtually no attributes of a sturdy left back.

Still a young lad so plenty of time to bulk up still.

I think he can play both, but with his build at the moment would be better as midfield. Did he not play LB in the Carling Cup at Chelski?

I think he has the potential to be a very good LW and to be an average LB.

So develop him as a winger, but use him as emergency backup at LB.

He's been really good at Left-Mid this season, and better than when he's been at Left-Back

I don't see the point in bulking him up to fit into a role. He's already ideal for a different role, so why don't we keep him as that? He's small, fast and nippy. He can dart around defenders and put in good crosses.

    This

Why try to bulk him up to be something hes not? As said, small fast and nippy, a type of player we are missing.

I think he is better as a LW, but he will never play there (Jonas has a firm grip there), so I would try to convert him into a LB.

Great player to have in the squad.

Left winger, he looked awesome on Sunday. I thought a few months ago that we had to loan him to a Championship club at the start of next season before he is ready for a regular first team squad place here. I was wrong. The lad is ready to be in and around the first team, not starting XI AT THE MOMENT when everyone is fit but definately someone worthy of a place on the bench and more regular appearances. With more games he will get better and better. Full of running, quick, direct, can beat defenders - it's all good! He'd be wasted at left back, may be a 'Glen Johnson' if we played him there. Great going forward but no more than adequate at best as a defender.
