Sir Alex Ferguson says he has conceded defeat in the battle to sign Chile star Alexis Sanchez - despite tabling a club record bid for the highly-rated player. The Manchester United boss claims he has pulled out of the running for the Udinese forward because he has already agreed a switch to Barcelona. United bid £35 million for Sanchez, but Ferguson says he will sign for the Catalan giants next week. Chelsea and Manchester City had also been involved in the bidding war. A move to the Camp Nou had always been reported to be the player's preference though. The Red Devils' boss will now re-focus his attempts to bring Inter Milanâs Wesley Sneijder and Tottenhamâs Luka Modric to Old Trafford in the wake of his Sanchez disappointment.
At least Lord Ferguson, is still looking for a top CM, and willing to pay for one as well. That will shut the penniless dippers up.
Sir Alex didn't say anything about Sneijder or Modric. The author just said he thinks that Sir Alex will go after them.
