Bayern wanted Moyes not Pep. Swings and roundabouts.

So after all the bollox about Moyes being the 'chosen one', it seems he was somewhat a last resort. From comments made on the radio this morning, he seems to have confirmed that Pep was wanted but never got back to Fergie about the job, Jose had promised himself to Chelsea and Dave down the local couldn't be arsed as he had his loft to clear out.

    Chosen one. <laugh>

Having seen Bayern Munich last night I'd be pleased to have Pep take the job after LVG, particularly with the squad of players we have now. Their game plan is to pass it through their defence and attack from midfield. Ours seems to be to be attack to the midfield then pass ...................

You do know where pep gets a large part of his own 'philosophy' don't you. Which team above all others he admired and aspired to emulate (doing so in the process).

    It was van Gaals....

So what Pep is doing, is what van Gaals aiming to do here however it takes time. Pep walked into a club that had already been taken down the road of possession based dominance so the blueprint was already there. Same at Barcelona (though to a lesser extent on van Gaals part) where the whole strategy had been embedded from a very early age. Every age group at Barcelona plays the same way, follows the same philosophy. Van Gaal ghad a massive hand in that and even though he was sacked from both, each club will point to him being one of the big reasons they are they clubs they are today.

It wasn't all down to him before someone misquotes me but he was a key piece of it all. Even in his second stint at Barcelona, a stint that was a disaster, he effected them positively for years to come.

PEPs sides pass sideways constantly. There is a point to it which many seem to miss. You ate literally dragging your opponent apart. With Pep he had Messi who was the bit of magic that once you have worn your opponent out mentally, destroyed them. At Bayern he has Muller or Lewandowski.

Van gaals strikers have let him down so far. His creative player became a pussy and ran away. With Martial and Memphis now in attack, just you watch our play progress to the next stage. Everything else is in place.

If Van Gaal is still aiming to do it, maybe we'd be better off with the guy who IS doing it <whistle>

Not yet. Pep would have magically made Falcao, Rooney or Van Persie better last season. He would likely have done much the same as van Gaal (he's a history of dumping strikers who don't fit his philosophy afterall) and got rid of most of them. He would then have brought someone in who gives the side a new dimension, perhaps even two such players.

As it is. Peps been lucky as he's had these types of players already there for him.
