If it had been the other way round he would have said it wasn't a penalty.

Either way he'd be right, he always is.

    In his rule book anyway.

Why are people surpised he said they were disadvatage for not getting a penalty against Fulham last month, when it wasn't a penalty and they scored from the corner that followed, yet in the same game the Danny Murphy penalty wasn't.

The refereeing today and overall FA actions of the last few weeks have been embarrassing. There have been some terrible decisions, but the worst part is no one is surprised.

How people can argue that big teams don't get decisions go there way is beyond me.

This, the only positive that can come about with so many ridiculous decisions would hopefully be to have tv replays, would the extra ref (that they are currently trialing in the Europa League) see the Ashley Young dive or the Mata "goal" yesterday...i doubt it

Have to agree with Tiote here, Fergie is just playing the game and defending his player. He'll know full well that it was a dive, and he'll also know full well that Young now is getting a rep for this stuff. So he will do all he can to defuse that so his team can continue to benefit from it. Everyone moans about the foreigners diving but he's worse than Jonas and that takes some doing!! I can see how the ref got trapped by it too. The modern player is adept at this kind of thing, and sure it looks easy in the sky slo mo pictures but I watched that game and at full speed it was unclear to me. (I did assume it was a dive for obvious reasons)

These english pretenders are amateurs when you compare them to him. Of course it would have been part of his football education in Argentina and it shows. I don't like diving full stop but I accept that all teams have them now. If Jonas was an exception to the rule I'd probably view his diving differently. As it stands though, I'm glad we've got one of the best. <laugh>

I dnt think Jonas is that big a diver...yes he exaggerates his falls but if he doesn't he wouldnt get half the free kicks we SHOULD get

Those black and white stripes on your specs must be clouding your view! I love Jonas but I have to be honest about his falling over. He is theatrical as it gets! He does get fouled a lot too but he is the master of diving and winning free kicks in dangerous areas. As I say I'd view it differently if every team didn't have them. Nothing wrong with admitting we have the most effective at it. Its hypocrites like Rio who slate the likes of Perch and Jonas for bending the rules, but then manage to stay incredibly quiet when Ashley Young does likewise that piss me off!
