Well I'm only 25 so all I've known is Sir Alex. I've never had a problem with him unlike many football fans. Love him or loathe him he's definitely a character and brilliant at his job.

It'll be weird when he's gone, but hopefully Utd will have a season or two of transition and we'll get easier games!

Looks like he know's when he's met his match. Bluebirds promoted and he's off. <laugh>

    Irreplaceable in fairness. <ok>

absolutely guys, it will be strange to have a man u without fergie, probably the greatest manager of all time.....

mourinho and moyes are being linked, mourinho is probably off to chelski, but a monumental task for the man coming in. if they dont get off to a flier they'll be calling for his head, the last thing man u will want is to chop and change.....

However good the next manager is he will take time, hope the money is good because it's going to be a hard job to follow Fregie.

I'm confused, has he retired or died. The reaction and news coverage is unbelievable.

Who will run the Premier League now?

Now that would be amusing but joking aside, fantastic record for the old man of football. Steered them from mediocrity back to the top and kept them there. Love or hate him a top football man.

We will never see a manager in post at the same club as SAF - those days are well gone now.

By the way did you think Malky had his interview suit on last night - I think he may be parading himself ready for the managerial roundabout that will shortly kick off :)

I hope whoever replaces SAF gets a free hand at managing the side without Fergie sticking his oar in.

He'll still be around and very influential - that could be a serious worry for any incoming manager.

So, first Maggie dies, then Fergie retires......
