Man Utd boss Ferguson looking forward to renewiing QPR rivalry Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Tue, 12/13/2011 - 03:19 Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking forward to facing QPR. Trips to Loftus Road used to be commonplace â and United have a formidable record there under Sir Alex, losing just once in 11 games against the Hoops â but the Reds havenât played the West London outfit since March 1996. QPRâs return to the top flight has triggered plenty of memories for the United manager, however, who told Inside United heâs relishing this weekendâs visit. âIt was always a great atmosphere at Loftus Road,â he told manutd.com. âI remember we used to get a big allocation. Weâd get the entire end behind one goal and then some more space around the side. âThe United fans, as you can imagine, loved that and would generate terrific noise. Loftus Road is one of those places where the fans feel as though theyâre right on top of the pitch. We had some great nights there.â
I hope the Rs fans really generate a cracking and intimidating atmosphere like they did against Chelsea, it could make all the difference.. U Rss!!
I personally used to hate it when Utd came to Loftus Road. If they scored you'd discover that not only did they have the allocation that Sir Alex mentioned but pretty much every other bloody seat apart from LR. It was shameful the way the club did nothing about it. I remember having to pay a tout £50 to see us play them, the time when Sir les did a back heel sweeping nutmeg through Paul Ince's legs and shot straight into the top corner. I was sitting on my, as my dad and I couldn't get tickets together. When we scored I went mental, as did the guy next to me. We didn't know each other but we were grabbing each other and throwing each other around, and then we just hugged with tears in our eyes. It was at this moment we both realized that we were the only 2 people jumping up and down, the only 2 Rangers fans in the upper South Africa Road Stand for about 3 blocks. We both noticed at the same time, stopped celebrating for a second and then just carried on. Brilliant, yet sad that the club always used to sell more tickets to away supporters. I hope things have changed this time around.
