http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17286652? Surely there can be no debate about this - either there was a clause in the contract or there wasn't.
I would have to agree on that one. If there was a handshake but it didn't go down in writing then they get what they deserve.
strange. i remember saying at the time that neither club put anything in their official statement saying that posh would get one of our players on loan. we gave bennett back on loan to give them time to bring in a loan replacement. nowhere in the wording (unless it was later amended) did it say they would loan one of our players. there has been a mix up somewhere but i can't see how we've done anything wrong on this.
It does seem a bit bizarre how both clubs have completely different ends of the stick. As I have said before, I heard an interview with their owner saying we would be giving them a first team squad player when Bennett eventually came to us.
If they weren't happy with the deal they should not have agreed the terms. I thought we were pretty generous loaning him to them for a month to give them time to bring someone in. A bit rich for Posh to imply sharp practice after the way they handled our bid for Craig McKail-Smith
i recall you mentioning this and thought it totally bizarre! why would we loan back bennett if they knew they would get barnett on loan anyway? surely we would just take bennett immediately and they could take barnett in january. why wait a month to do the swap? confusing as well that they are called bennett and barnett
Maybe Posh thought we said we would loan them Barnett when in fact we said Bennett. You'd think they might of noticed when a big black bambi didn't turn up!
You may laugh, but I guarantee that is very close to the truth. Still, at least one thing´s for sure, BENNETT with an R. won´t be going back.
Surely a professional football club couldn't make that sort of mistake, could they? Maybe Barry Fry dealt with the contract negotiations - if he did, I could understand that mistake happening.
its just not like barry fry to bumble about during transfer dealings and make a complete hash of it...
So let me get this correct. We've broken their (CMS to Brighton) previous transfer record, loaned our deadline day acquisition back to them for a month to help them out, and then they expect to cherry-pick one of our Premier League centre backs when that month is up As someone said earlier, after the CMS shenanigans, you'd think they'd know by now not to mess with McNally ? And I'd be amazed if he sanctioned this supposed arrangement when the deal was done on deadline day. Why spend £3m to strengthen the squad only to weaken it the very next day?
Just another Fergie having a rant. I my opinion he's making himself look a right_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ , Fill in the blanks yourselves. ILD OTBC
If we were going to loan them one of our centre backs, why did they need Bennett back for a month. Frankly we've been extremely accommodating with the whole situation and might have 6 centre backs on the books but one is injured, one returning from injury, one very injury prone, one is rather poor, one is technically a right back and one is 20 and yet to play in the prem. we could very quickly need all of them. I wouldn't eat to see anyone out the door until may
i wouldn't be surprised if their owner told the manager something to sweeten the deal with him and now he's found out that it was bollocks
i was going to make a joke about loaning them the comedian lennie bennett, but he died RIP. seems a bit like crying over spilt milk this. he's probably trying to cover his arse as they shipped 3 goals last night. couldn't he ask daddy to loan them De Laet?
