Man I used to love the fenwick's windows at xmas when I was little. My granny used to take us up there and we would look at them, the toys, and the toys in bainbridges. Then, because she was Scottish, she would buy us nothing and take us back home. Almost good times,.

My mam stopped taking me to see the Fenwick's display when some dodgy bloke started to drop his horrible mustard chinos and show his horrible, spotty, hairy arse.

We used to queue to see it every year, late 80's and if my memory is correct it was jam packed. Pretty sure we were never bought anything though, not even certain i knew it was a shop - just some sort of annual ornamental window.

When people say they queue to see it, is this just for the opening/unveiling? I assume you can see it when you like at other times?

Can you tell I haven't shopped on Northumberland Street for about 25 years?

Jesus Christ, queuing to see a bloody window!

You can see it any time you want.
There's only a queue when the streets busy or word is out that Albert is in Town for a show.

Love it. Love the tradition and the fact that we upkeep things like this. The Norwegians come over in the droves to shop and see it. Do they still give us a tree every year outside the Civic, and other cities across the country?

Get a sense of tradition, a bit of love, and positivity in your life people

I'm now reading "pushed the boat out" as someone taking the opportunity to pleasure themselves.

Think we are over analysing the window display. Now having my doubts about the phrase "I know a good place for minnows"
