Fenerbahce have been expelled, meaning the highest ranked European team will take there place. If that encompasses team already qualified for Europe, Arsenal will be in the Champions League group stages, irrespective of tonights result. If it covers every team, then Liverpool could be in the group stages. Final decision to be made soon. =============================================================== How unfair would that be on Spurs if Liverpool were to get CL Football, not to mention other teams across Europe if Arsenal were to get it? After all the build up and hype, Arsenal could well lose this match and still qualify for CL group stages.
To be honest, I think that the next best Turkish team should get it. I would be astonished if Liverpool or any other English team get the Champions League place. It should go to the next best Turkish team in my opinion. Not sure how UEFA views the situation though...
So does that mean only another Turkish team would be allowed in? Problem is I thought Bursaspor and Trabzonspor were also accused?
Surely it would go to another Turkish side? Couldn't have 5 english sides in the CL. The rest of Europe would go ballastic.
The Turkish FA have expelled them though and following corruption allegations from other Turkish clubs they may well pull the plug on Turkish teams entering altogether.
Keep it going down the league until they find one that isn't involved in it? that's what I would do...
5 english sides has happened before, you know... 2005/06. Liverpool have just won the champions league, but everyone is saying 'They finished fifth, but they should get to defend their title' and so Liverpool and Everton play in the Champo League. Liverpool enter at qualifying round one. They go pretty far. Everton are knocked out in their first qualifying round (Q ROUND 3).
Don't give it to another Turkish side, they're all corrupt! Maybe they could give one of the other teams in the competition an "extra life" instead...
So, arsenal lose, but they go through to the group stage. Liverpool in the Europa. Arsenal win, and Liverpool in the group stage.. Udinese in the Europa. Or, arsenal win and Udinese in the group stage too. Liverpool in the Europa. See, Turkey might be so fixed that UEFA just say "**** it" and pick Arsenal and Liverpool. Interesting things to happen here.
If Arsenal do lose but still go through they'll soon get knocked out again won't they because they weren't good enough to qualify.
