Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo has accused his club of a lack of respect following reports that he has been offered to Liverpool as part of a swap deal for Raul Meireles.

The Brazilian hardman is less than pleased that he has been linked with a move to Anfield as part of the Italiant giants' attempts to capture Portuguese star Meireles.

Rumours have been linking the ex-Porto man with a move away from Liverpool less than a year he was signed for £10million. Despite an impressive debut season, it is believed Kenny Dalglish wants to free-up space in the squad after the signing of Jordan Henderson and the imminent arrival of Charlie Adam.

Liverpool have slapped a £13 million asking price for the Portuguese playmaker, but the Serie A side want to offer Melo and cash.

Former Arsenal target Melo is unhappy at his supposed role in the part-exchange proposal.

He is quoted in the Daily Mirror as saying: "Let us say that Juve are not respecting me, or at least that's the impression I get.

"I'm not just anyone. I'm not a bargaining chip to be used."

I can understand his frustration, it wouldn't be so bad if it we're a club within the same country but to offer him to a club in a different country without speaking to him is completley disrespectful. Melo has a family and has probably laid roots in italy so to treat him like a piece of meat is wrong.

If my boss did the same to me i'd kick off big time

I've always thought that use of the term "makeweight" is an insult to any player.

He's not a bargaining chip because we weren't interested. He is a bargaining chip in that he's already been offered as such.

It seems Juventus have some money now so maybe they can up the offer for Aquilani and buy him!

Aquilani and Meireles for a joint £30m deal will do nicely please Juventus, we don't want any of your players - you finished 7th in the Italian league... Well, perhaps Chiellini.

The only reason we're considering Meireles is because we are well stocked in his position and his age means we're unlikely to command a higher fee in future (being fans player of the season, he has a bit of value currently). With that in mind, Juventus must be idiots to offer us a player in the same position AND the same age in exchange!
