With Derek Williams signed up and Frank Fielding close. Anyone else feeling a lot more optimistic than they were in May? SOD seems to be getting a good young team together now and the signings all come to us highly regarded by there former clubs/fans. I cant wait for the season to start now. August is a very tough month and if we can come out of that strongly then we could be in for a great season. A few more signings to go yet though, Probably a CM a Winger and maybe a Striker but so far its been a interesting break and to think the transfer window isn't even open yet.

Reason to believe again Roll on August!

Well we have almost all said for at least the last 2 years we needed 2 new CBs and now we have them, so yes reason to be optimistic I feel.

The pessamist in me is saying just wait something is going to go wrong perhaps the Fielding transfer will collapse or Cunningham will put in a transfer request, because everything seems to be going too well Foster is off, There has been some rumoured interest in Fontaine and Kilkenny but they are still at the club, however so far no significant interest in Cunningham which is a bonus.
The current problem is all this crap around Albert, Wigan offering £1M because Ghananet said he would be available at cut price and we supposedly agreed this valuation.

So far we've got Jordan Wynter, Aden Flint, Derrick Williams, and hopefully soon Frank Fielding. All three are decent players at this level so I'm looking forward to seeing these guys in action.

However, I'd be a lot happier if I knew we would keep this momentum up. I'm glad that we're signing players early, but I want us to continue signing young talent, and to start unloading some of the dead weight. I want Flint and Williams as our defenders, and I want Fontaine and Carey out if possible. Hell, I'd probably take £1.2M for Adomah, or £1M and a solid player right now because we can then spend that money to build the squad.

Pretty much agree with EnderMB but to make my Christmas all I want now is to be shot of ****ing Kilkenny.

Never doubted SoD the club will rise again,I doubted the boards commitment to improving the squad and getting the deadwood out.

Making signings is one thing, and while I'm pleased we're making them before the season starts (for once!!!), getting them to play as a team is quite another matter.

I'm still not totally convinced by SOD or what he says, but if we win our opening game and can be on 15 points or more after the first 8 games then I'll happily reconsider.

3 signed so far - all fairly young, but happy with what we have. We needed a big centre half, and Flint is that. As for Williams and Wynter both were offered longer deals at Villa/Arsenal but chose to move to play first team football (like their attitude already).

We need a keeper, so will be happy once the Fielding deal is done.

Forwards will only come in if existing players move on - remians to be seen if that happens.

Don't believe what you read about Albert - no official bids yet

As soon as a keeper and replacements for Albert and Killa are on board I for one will be far happier than I am now

    The side as it stands:
    AN Other
Maloney - Flint - Fontaine - Cunningham (Williams could play at CH)
Adomah - Elliott - Kelly - Anderson (Bryan on left or Pearson/Wynter in middle) ........ or Killa
    Baldock - Davies (Taylor/Burns)

Of course if players leave then it all changes - would love to know who SoD is trying to manouver out?

    Moloney
    Flint

think we need that bit of steel in the midfield someone to give opposing players thoughts of where's the toilet when they see him bearing down on them we need a Gow or a Cisse having all pretty ball players in midfield is fine but if you are not winning the ball you can't play it around.

More optimistic with the signings, but still cautious that I haven't seen them play yet to fully judge them. Like Angelic says until I see them play as team then I will feel better.
A lot was getting excited about Kilkenny joining even though Leeds fans warned us. And we know how that turned out.
