I know its a long way off, but when the next transfer window closes, what do you think SCPs first team will be? Here is my stab in the dark Sullivan New player-Morrison-Cort-Evina Green-Alonso-Stephens-Jackson Hayes-New player Be intrested what everyone else thinks
One of you has sold our best goalscorer the other sacked the manager. Can't we just enjoy it for a while?
I do think we may struggle to hold on to BWP in the January window, if he has scored a lot of goals a championship club chasing promotion may possibly come in for him. But luckily the club isn't in a position where we have to sell so unless its a silly offer we can happily tell them to bugger off!
I think the whole team now will look pretty much the same apart from a possible new right back as you have stated, I think this is probably the weakest link in the squad at moment and wouldn't be surprised if a Championship class RB is signed in January if we're doing nicely in the league
I am not sure that Bwp would actually be able to pass a medical for a big money transfer. There must be a season why he hasn't signed a new deal? The effort the club went through to get money for Elliot, rather than let him go on a free, makes me think the club think Bwp is financially worthless!
That's right, C4E - if you remember, we snapped him up immediately after he'd failed a medical at Coventry City. I think the relative shortness of his contract reflected the concern that the knee might be worse than it's turned out to be. We can win without him, it's just easier if he's there.
There was a lot of talk about Elliot and Waggy cos they were entering the last year and basically, from the outside, they were told to sign or go. Also Bwp is the only 1st team player that has a year to go on his contract
Blimey, Martinho, how can RB be our weakest area? Chris Solly has been brilliant so far this season. He has really come on leaps and bounds since the injury and could be looking at Player of the Year if this form continues. If he gets injured, Francis and Hughes are hardly the worst players to deputise. I have no worries about the RB position.
I dont rate Solly, ok league one right back, nothing more. Francis chose not to try hard enough last season and Hughes is good back up in number of positions, but not first choice in any. Are any of them as good as frazer? NO! Is frazer a top championship right back? NO! Therefore a new right back is a must in the next 2 transfer windows, in my book the sooner the better.
If we can achieve our objectives this season, with the squad we have, then I am sure the owners will invest in a higher calibre of player in a few positions for next year.
Ponders, Super don't get me wrong I agree Solly has done very well this season so far but I agree with cafc4ever that i'm not sure Solly is Championship material, let me put it another way, if this team got promoted to the Championship I think it could more than hold it's own in there and could find itself in the play-off mix but i'm just not convinced (yet) that Solly is Championship material. Perhaps i'm being too hard on Solly but i'm an analyst it's what I do and any signings coming into the club seem to be given the impression we are making a push for the Premier League and that means signing Championship class players this January if we are nicely poised. I like Solly but for so many years we have shown complacency or too much loyalty to players who aren't good enough - even Curbs was guilty of this.
You say Frazer isn't a top Championship RB, but his team sit in 2nd with him playing in every match. I'd say Frazer was easily a top C'ship defender, and we were very fortunate to sign him.
