Could be a goer! Don't think it will come to that, but the fans of FC United of Manchester seem to be loving every minute of it. Big crowds, great away days, fantastic atmosphere at every game. Grass roots, genuine supporters. Wouldn't mind this happening tbh. F*ck Ashley. Supporting this regime must be like living in a loveless marriage.

Go watch/support Gateshead instead? If they got crowds of 10,000 i am sure they could climb the league pyramid.

If you're starting a team up I'm in, 32 and **** at football with a dodgy knee. You'll need a few bench warmers though and I'll only command wages of a pint after a game <cheers>

Having started my own team (click on my link below - shameless self promotion) and having followed AFC Wimbledon since their inception I know a fair bit about this subject (not often I get to say that).

It is entirely possible! Depending on the backing and support for a new club you can jump a couple of tiers (levels) of the football league pyramid, if you take AFC Wimbledon as an example they managed to jump straight to Combined County Leagues and took 9 years to get back into the "Football Leagues" (League 2) after setting up and doing open trials on Wimbledon Common.

If there was a consortium of people with the money (one of AFC's board stuck around and bankrolled them) a decent fan base, which shouldn't be a problem, then the new club could be back in the football leagues in 10 years.

Gateshead is just across the river.

We could save ourselves a decade.

Dont know about FC United of Newcastle but with salary claims like that you may find Ashley comes knocking over the Summer.

If I was a bit younger maybe.

Occasionally watch Gateshead, but I can't really say I'm a proper fan, as the passion isn't like with NUFC.

All Real Gateshead fans ask is that disenchanted Mags are there for the right reasons, not some passing fad whilst they wait for changes at SJP and they bugger off.

Supporting Gateshead is not for me. I'm from north of the water. I think supporting them would be preferable to setting up a new club, though. I'll keep following NUFC and wait it out, but I doubt I'll be at many or any games until I see change of owner or a change in the current owner's approach.

I get quite a bit of enjoyment out of watching Consett to be honest.
Feels like going back in time.

Years back I used to go to Newcastle one week and Whitley Bay the next and so on.

This year I've started to go to "minor" league football again watching Whitley Bay, North Shields (just in time to go to Wembley) and West Allotment Celtic. Some of the best games I've seen this season have been watching these teams. The Media seem to think you have to have Man City or Chelsea or their ilk to have a good game. How wrong they are.

Not interested in minor leagues tbh. What makes you interested out of interest? Do you live in or near those communities?

    Combination of things really.

I used to live near to Whitley Bay as a kid and it was just part of a "normal" Saturday for myself, my father and my brother to go to a football match on a Saturday. I can still remember most of the 1960's Whitley Bay team from the 1960's! I can still remember 2 FA Amateur Cup Semi- Finals during the 1960's. The closest I ever got to going to Wembley in the 1960's.

I then moved south of the Tyne and stopped going to the amateur/non league games for a fair while but still went to Newcastle. Whitley Bay then recently'ish improved to the extent of doing well in the FA Vase and that rekindled my interest and initially jumping on the band wagon (glory hunting style) and started to go again.

The atmosphere at these games is a lot less intense and I don't go into "a mood" as my wife calls it if my non league team win. The football is obviously not "Premier League" standard but because of that the games can be more exciting and enjoyable to watch.

At the end of the day I just simply enjoy watching football and telling anyone near me how much better I was than the current players (my wife, who doesn't go, questions my mental recall abilities on that one).
