Vertonghen's become very popular in the short time he's been here. I think Bale's probably still the most popular followed by Benny and Jan although I've always liked Sandro best.

I've never really seen Bale as being that popular among fans. My favourite player at the moment is Sandro, followed very closely by Vertonghen.

There are so many likeable players in our team. Every interview I've seen of Dawson portrays him as a gentle, friendly bloke. BAE is BAE (LOL), Vertonghen seems sensible, and as YV said, everyone likes Bale.

Caulker is really growing on me. Enjoying seeing his rise to stardom from the very beginning.

The only players from our team I don't think are particularly 'nice' as people are Lennon and Defoe.

A few have really impressed me, but Verts is currently my player of choice.

Interesting that the three players who really looked to be a tad under par on Saturday don't even feature on the ballot paper: Dempsey, Huddlestone, and Sigurdsson! (Thud looked too cumbersome, I'm afraid; Dempsey just couldn't fire; and I'm really still unconvinced by Siggy). Why the hell didn't we start with Townsend to give us width and speed on BOTH flanks, and a choice of exit routes when defending (not to mention starting with Ade as well as Defoe - look at the difference it made when he came on!)...... oh yes! I forgot! AVB's our manager now! So we have a five-man midfield, and it still gets the run-around for the first 45 minutes!

My favourite player? Well I've always been a fan of BAE, Defoe and Dawson, but currently my vote has to go to Dembele, who has glue on his boots - how does he keep the ball so well under pressure otherwise!? I think we missed him even more than Bale on Saturday - although we clearly missed them both. Surprised he hasn't got any other votes yet.

<laugh> why am I not surprised at GH10's choice. Having someone as your favourite player after one fairly uneventful Prem League game and 1 or 2 low key Europa League games is bizarre. One thing to believe he should play more, but to make him your favourite player, above Moussa, Verts, Bale, Sandro, Lennon?

i voted for both BAE and Dembele.
BAE coz of his personality, which is very refreshing for a footballer.
Dembele because i just love watching him play. The way it looks like he's lost the ball, surrounded by 3 players, oh he's through!

How do you vote twice. Would give Dembele an equal first vote, but can't see how it is done?

Thread title says favourite, then OP's post says most popular, so I'll do both :D

At the moment, my favourite is Lennon. He's back to his best and I'm really happy for him, baring in mind there were strong reports linking us with Willian who no doubt would've put Lennon's place under threat. He's now back to being one of the first names on the team sheet and done his best on Saturday to compensate for Bale not being there. Definitely don't think we need a new winger now, which I did in pre-season, unless it's someone to cover Lennon/ Bale - though we have Townsend anyway who I think has a great future.

Most popular will no doubt be Bale, followed by Defoe and Benny.

Shout outs need to go to our two new Belgians, who in such a short space of time, are already becoming crowd favourites.

I was torn between Verts and Dembele, but went for Verts based on the fact that he's had to adjust to a new country and a different style of football.

he's been superb, with all things considered.

I did it in one way so that he got a vote and it's all part of my Lloris crusade. He has actually though become my favourite player, because I'm sooooo annoyed about his treatment at Spurs. In another way I suppose my favourite player is either Bale or JV, but as you probably know I'm suffering from Lloris obsession ATM. I can't shake off my feelings of fury about the situation. I'm hopeful though that by Sunday all will be well, and I'll find some other cause celebre to occupy my time

Hope this explains my 'bizarre' choice  On another time I'd probably get worked up over that description, but I accept it this time as valid.

Don't worry G10, I actually agree with your principles in terms of being annoyed that Lloris hasn't started more than what he has, even if you have slightly addressed the issue a few times <laugh>. I can understand the first two/ three weeks to adjust but from then on, he should be first choice. I rate him higher than Friedel and the fact that AVB loves playing out from the defence where our full backs bomb forward along with the odd run from a CB, we need a quick keeper to be able to come off his line should the opposition play a counter through ball that the defence may be too far off reaching, Hugo proved vs Villa he will happily leave his box to clear a ball and he's quick at doing so, with all respect to Brad, it'll take him half a year to just get out of the 6 yard box! <laugh>
