So many to choose from (101!),a very difficult choice but I'm plumping for the first one against Derby. It showed how we could become much more direct, showcased Walton's much improved distribution and led to a good win against one of the better sides in the division. There were however several contenders.
For the situation, Broadhead’s free kick against Sheff Wed for me. Brilliant goal and also helped recover a losing position against what eventually turned out to be our biggest rivals.
That was such an important point.I was watching the highlights of that game last night too.I know you can't look at individual games over the course of the Season but if we hadn't drawn that match we'd have been in the Play-offs!
So many good ones, especially at the end of the Season. I think the majority of goals would have won goal of the season under the previous regime (particularly Mick). I really liked the first one against Derby plus the Hirst one against Barnsley because to me they highlighted how far we'd come and had more strings to our bow, we'd become ruthless and not just pass it for the sake of passing it. I also like one of the Chaplin goals against Charlton mainly because of the assist from Broadhead, the scooped pass. In terms of importance, tension and pure relief the Broadhead penalty against Port Vale felt really significant, the pressure he was under due to the occasion, the atmosphere and long delay between the penalty being given and taken yet he was so calm and collected. I don't think I've ever seen as good a penalty (or celebrated as hard)
I think in terms of importance, I'd go Broadheads free kick against Wednesday or Hirsts goal against Barnsley, I'm going for Hirsts goal, just before halftime to go 2 up, killed off any threat Barnsley had.
