Just wondering what your favourite city chant is/was. Think mine is Albert's song. "Runs down the wing for me" but I did love Johnson says bounce around the ground. That was a great season and could still remember singing it at Wembley. So over to you. Doesn't have to be recent once, Can be a song about Atyeo from back in the day.......
Tom Thumb. Quirky and a carry over from the days of terraces and dressing for the match. A scene now nearly lost amongst the saturation of the EPL/modern football/Sky/soccer am. Too many City songs now are just re-hashes of the big teams e.g Albert runs ... Lame and small time aping.
1 2 3 4 5 if you want to stay alive KEEP OFF THE EAST END or 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Tottenham sung at the Gas and a couple of years later 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 CITY also sung at the Gas following 9-0 and 8-0 stuffings first by Spurs then by City
Tiptoe through the East End with your razors and your hobnail boots and tiptoe through the east end with me. East East Eastenders We are the famous the famous EAST END. Have you guessed where I stood as a nipper and as a young man?
Have to agree with Cliftonville Tom Thumb! they tried to resurrect it in the Atyeo a couple of seasons ago, but couldn't get the tune right! If I remember correctly it was more of an away song.
Doobie doobie ... Odd one, amongst other strange chants. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=zBvp-zRvMo4&desktop_uri=/watch?v=zBvp-zRvMo4
That was a strange one that I've never heard from any other club's fans. What about the Gerry Gow song "He's here, he's there, he's every ****ingwhere etc etc"
Someone mentioned John Atyeo earlier in the thread. Well I don't remember any songs in that era about any player. I remember that we tried to fit some different words to "Big Bad John" by Jimmy Dean which was a hit record in the early sixties but it never happened. And in those far off days, we used to sing "The Red Robin" on very rare occasions. Oh and 2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate, C I T Y, Citeee! Pretty pathetic compared with the seventies and eighties songs.
