My favourite goal against ManU is one where I can't really remember the goal itself. It was Dennis Bailey's second against them at OT on New Years Day 1991. Only 4 minutes into the game, we were 2-0 up and flying. Then the TV cameras switch to Fergie's face, and that look, at that moment, from the rudolf-nosed serial-excuse-maker is one I'll never forget!
I remember Gray's goal sooper and it was a stonker but I had it in mind we won 3-2 and also that there were only 10,000 at the game. What about alan macdonalds extra time fa cup header levelling it up at 2-2. Remember that?
Got to be sir les when he dragged the ball back between his legs, nutmegging Paul once in the process and then firing it in to the top corner from 25 yards. I almost wet myself.
Agree with the Sir Les call, great game that one although we lost. The goal was disallowed in the end (wrongly; Pallister pushed Kev) so this probably doesn't count, but the 'goal' Gallen scored at OT on the opening day of the season after bursting beyond the defence was brilliant; was the start of an awesome partnership between the Les and Kev - think it was Kev's full debut, poss '94, can't quite remember.
My favourite goal goes way back to the 73-74 season, we were in our first season back in the top division and Man U were near the bottom and a quite poor side in reality. We absolutely wiped the floor with them and 2-0 up in the 2nd half Stan picked up the ball and waltzed past four or five defenders like they weren't there before scoring with a low cross-shot to wrap up a 3-0 win that could easily have been double that. United ended up being relegated...
