He certainly went through it... http://www.people.co.uk/sport/footb...ly-drove-him-to-kill-himself-102039-23507262/
QPR star Faurlin on the despair that nearly drove him to kill himself Oct 23 2011 by Dean Jones ALEJANDRO FAURLIN claims he would have ended it all if he had cost QPR their Premier League dream last *season. The Argentinian midfielder was at the centre of the ‘illegal player’ controversy that put him and Rangers in the dock – with the threat of a points deduction that would have *denied them promotion. Distraught Faurlin says it felt like he had “murdered *someone” when he was hauled up in front of the FA. After months of torment it was only on the final day of the season that the Hoops were given the all-clear and were able to celebrate winning a place in the top flight. Faurlin came close to a *complete breakdown. He said: “It was very tough. The situation wasn’t just bad for me but also for my family. “We were so happy it *finished in the right way, otherwise I would have killed myself. Contract “From the beginning of the season to the end we were *always top of the league and worked hard for every single point. “Imagine how I would have felt if I had let down my team. It wasn’t about me, just about my contract. But my name was there and I really felt it. “My father even came across to England from Argentina to be with me. “When I was called to *Wembley Stadium to give * *evidence, I *really felt as if I had murdered *someone.” QPR had been charged with breaching strict third-party ownership rules over Faurlin’s move from Instituto in 2009. They ended up being found guilty of two of seven charges they faced over his *registration and were fined £875,000, but not docked any points. Faurlin added: “When the decision came through before the Leeds game that we would not be deducted points, I felt like I lost 200 kilos. “There were tears in the dressing room, it was such *relief. It was fabulous.” Since that day he has not looked back – and today’s mammoth derby with Chelsea is reward for all the pain. Faurlin said: “Some Argentinian players have done well here, but some haven’t. “Everything about it suits me, and since Neil Warnock came I have become tougher. I kick people more! “I know this rivalry with *Chelsea means a lot to the fans and it is a big derby. “But I grew up in Argentina and my team was Rosario Central. The derby there was against Newell’s Old Boys, and every time they play they want to kill each other! This will be tame by comparison. “We have tough games *coming up and people will not expect much from us, but we are very excited.” Faurlin loves life in England. His favourite TV *programmes are Deal or No Deal and The X Factor, while his meal of choice is fish and chips, *followed by apple pie and custard. He is not your average Argentinian, but there is one fellow countryman who *remains close to his heart. He explained: “I have a tattoo of Diego Maradona on my body. Before I came so far away from home, I didn’t realise quite how good he was. But I have watched more and more videos of him and I think his play was just perfect. “To have him as a No.10 and *captain of your country was just unbelievable. “He is such an *inspiration to me.” iReader
Blimey. If he's not joking about that, it's a shame he thought it was his fault because it wasn't. Emotional lad, ay?
Blimey! Only just seen this. Hopefully him having won the man of the match award from Sky yesterday has gone some way to make up for what he went through. As said by others, he seems like a really nice lad.
What a guy. Shows how much it means to him. I genuinly think that Faurlin loves QPR and could become an all time great here for many seasons to come.
'while his meal of choice is fish and chips, *followed by apple pie and custard' Can't beat a nice bit of haddock on a Friday
Ali seems like a really good bloke, and a great player who (just as well) seems to fall under the radar as a player, despite all the publicity about what he went through.
