This post is in part a reply to a earlier post regarding our defensive pairing of Derry and Faurlin. Anyone watching last nights game, or indeed a number of games last season, notably the Forest home game, can see that Faurlin is not solely there for his defensive attributes. Whilst he can tackle, track-back and header when necessary, the range of passing which Faurlin displays is excellent and provides the platform from which many of our attacks are formed. Indeed, it is possible to argue that Faurlin plays a pivotal role in our midfield, and without him we would not have been as free-flowing as we were on Monday night. He was frequently in advanced positions, and played a number of incisive passes, including at least two too SWP which should have led to goals. Clearly, then, Faurlin is much more than a defensive midfielder and remains one of our most important players - I hope that his performances generally go unnoticed, otherwise other clubs will surely come in for him
Agreed. I thought he was MOTM on Monday and that is saying something as there were some great performances. SWP and Taraabt seem to have got all the plaudits and im happy about that. The longer Faurlin goes un-noticed the better. He is a real gem. A footballer that has everything. He will be a key player for us this season no doubt!
whilst we are on the subject of faurlin does it not irritate you when commentators and pundits call him forlan?
What really annoys me about commentators is when they're talking about Spanish sides or players and then put on a little Manuel accent and say "Bar-ce-lon-a" or something. Really infuriates me!! They don't put on a German accent when talking about Bayern Munich, a Scouse one when talking about Wayne Rooney or an African one when talking about Didier Drogba!! Why do it for the Spanish teams/players? That knob-head from ITV Matt Smith does it, sounds so fooking stupid!! Needed to get that off my chest!!
I posted a thread on Monday night singing his praises as Man-of-the-Match, his understated work in breaking up play and excellent distribution is the hub which our game was built on, he's one of our most influential players and I hope the big guns don't come unsettling him in January, rumours were that Mourinho fancies him...
He's definitely not ready for Real Madrid or a club of that stature - hopefully he'd have the sense to see that; though of course it would be difficult to resist for any player. However, not sure he's ready for such a move and can't see him in their first team as of yet
He'd be expected to score a few goals, wouldn't he? That's his one shortcoming imo, goals have been few and far between.
Faurlin out on loan - must be cow droppings that story - at least I hope so. He's definitely one of Colin's favorites and his display Monday night suggests he'll be as important for us this season as he was last. Stilll I did have a bit of a panic when I saw your post Northolt, this is Rangers after all !!
