This is one top player we signed, great person with an excellent attitude as well as being a very talented footballer.
Don't tell Col I said this but 'the donkey's' an established prem player these days. Proof of the pudding would be a call up for Argentina which could and should happen sometime soon. (Lucky we've got adequate cover!)
Great pro and a very tidy footballer. Can anyone remember which manager actually signed him? Cant for the life of me remember!
According to Wiki he was signed on 7th July 2009, which means he came in when Magilton was at the helm.
The only thing that worries me is i have heard man u have been watching him as a long term replacement for Paul Scholes.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. Brix....not sure he's quite ready for International football yet, but a full season this term and he'll be ready imo. Class act!
Whilst it happened in Magilton's brief reign, it was Paladini's agent mate that proposed Faurlin as a future Rs' player. More a palm greasing exercise between a couple of 'grubbies' than a positive scouting exercise though.
Ends and means though Brix. Whatever way it came about, I'm glad it did. He's growing into an all round player.
Altough this is correct, Magilton claimed at the time that Faurlin was his find and that he had personally scouted/watched him live in South America during his time at Ipswich. He also signed a lad called Civelli I think, from Argentina. Looked a class act when Magilton and Ipswich outplayed us at HQ the year before he joined us. Later got crooked and never heard from since, back in Arg I believe. Point is, he was Magic' player, or at least that is what they all wanted us to believe instead of a shady Paladini deal that later would so famously blow up in our faces.
The way I remember it Thor, is that Paladini and the Mob were getting heat from the fans because word was going around that they were signing the players and not the Management. Paladini then put out the story that John Gorman of all people had taken it upon himself to fly to South America and check out this kid he'd heard of. Then someone added the dates up (Clive Whittingham?) and it transpired that Faurlin was signed before Gorman even made his supposed trip. I think its fair to say that he was the Mob's signing. About the only thing they got right during their stewardship.
