Alejandro Faurlin has agreed to sign the one-year deal he was recently offered by QPR.

The out-of-contract midfielder, 27, is due to put pen to paper within the next couple of weeks.

He remains able to agree terms with another club until he actually re-signs, but there is every expectation that he will still be at Loftus Road next season.

Faurlin, a popular figure among R’s fans, returned to action towards the end of last term after battling his way back from a third long-term knee injury in as many years.

Clint Hill, who has also been offered another year’s contract, is considering his future but has indicated to Rangers that he too is likely to stay.

Hill considered retirement but is also set to re-sign with Rangers

A number of other clubs have shown some interest in the 36-year-old, whowould like to take on a coaching role.

He contemplated retiring at the end of the season but is now keen to prolong his playing career.

Hill, who is currently on holiday with his family, said: “I have to say I feel good. I want to play on.

“I did think perhaps this season might be my last but I’ve not missed a training session and in terms of fitness I feel no different to how I did a few years ago.

“It’s fair to say I’m at that age as a player where with each year you wonder if it’ll be your last. The last thing you want is to be a burden.

“But I’ve looked after myself, I’m fit, feel I’ve still got something to give and it’s not like I’ve been relying on my pace to get by, is it?”

But the defender, who has made 170 appearances since joining Rangers from Crystal Palace in 2010, has reiterated that he believes his days as a left-back are over.

He spent much of last season in the position despite admitting as far back as 2012 that he no longer felt he was equipped to play there.

“I did say that, but of course you play where the team need you to,” said Hill.

“We had a situation last season where both lads [Armand Traore and Yun Suk-Young] were unavailable and it’s a position I’ve played in for most of my career.

“But there’s no doubt that at this stage of my career I’d consider myself more of a centre-back and, going forward, it’s important for someone like Yun that he plays and gets that experience. It’s important for his development.”

Hope he can stay fit and more importantly find top form again.
It is possible that he will never be the same player again .
He is the only player we have had for years though that can make the team tick. I look forward to seeing him again.

Agree about making the team tick. We've had too many games where are midfield seem scared of getting the ball in a tight space and can't make simple or quick passes. Ale doesn't have that problem and hhope he stays injury free.

Very happy that we've given him the chance.

The right decision for both players, if Ale stays fit he'll make a big difference...

A big gamble. It's all about his fitness. I'm guessing the one year contract has clauses about injury etc but even if the financial side is covered, we still need mid field play makers.
Heart - yes. Head - not at all sure.

These two potential 're-signings' worry me.

Both have huge questions hanging over them in terms of ability to perform - be it risk of injury, or just not being able to retain fitness and pace against younger, more agile opponents.

New contract to Alejandro.....sounds good but how much sense is there after all?? Faurlin has suffered unbeliveable bad luck with knee injuries and is a probably a top lad, but after three major surgeries to his knee what are the odds that his knee would last over christmas this time?

Clint to me is a no brainer....great team player knows his capabilities. But gives 110%
He does not expect to be in the team...and as long as CR is not playing him as a no1 choice....where do you get a player of that ability.
And possibly a coach in future....and you can tell by the way they are thinking about it...the money is down

Ale obviously more of a risk...but again 1 year and reduced money......we all may get lucky... I do hope so...
    They are both proper Rrrs

Delighted & hope Ale signs soon to end negativity amongst some.

Isn't Hill the model professional we yearn for? Honest & realistic, yet totally humble. True leader IMO

Clint has "Club Captain" written all over him. Team Captain is something else.

Faurlin is "Paul Scholes light" without his ability to put the ball in the net.
Can receive in tight spaces, good control, spreads it early and brings the best out of others
Can hold a position and defend too

must be worth a punt on a pay per play type basis surely
if fit can surely do at least half a job in the championship

Don't think there's much negativity about Faurlin as most like him & want him to get back playing but there's a realism that he is injury prone & may not get back to the same level as before.

Glad Hill has been offered a role as club needs someone respected & able to influence the team.

I agree with this, on both players:
    1. For the right money, Faurlin must be worth a punt but it is a risk.
    2. Hill will be a useful and influential squad member, again for the right money.

let's hope he plays a lot then, for his sake. He has a family to support presumably.
A proper contract for him would be better.

Faurlin is obviously a risk, but well worth it imo. If he stays fit he will be the best midfielder in the division by a mile!
