SB himself pointed out a couple of weeks ago,we seem to play poorly whenever we play three games in seven days. I concur. We play Wolves on tuesday and we'd quite like to win. So two questions. Firstly, why would we struggle to play a busy fixture ? We're no different to any other team in this league. Fitness maybe ? Secondly.Which players do you think we need to rest in a three match week. Who is it underperforming, and do we have a squad big enough to rest key players ?
Obviously the likes of McKenna, Oli and Faye are going to be the one's who suffer the most. As well as people who put in a real shift. I'd bring Oli into the side against Wolves, he should be fully fit now and how often do players seem to score against their former clubs. I'd also bring big Abdoulaye in for Macca, although I do not know the extent of Bruce Jnr.'s injury, so it could be him that's dropped (would be interesting to see if Hobbs would make the bench, doubt it). Think the rest of the team should be alright for Tuesday. Simmo did a lot of running but didn't play particularly well, so he could be one that could make way, however I don't think Bruce will want to change the side that much. The rest should be fine.
I don't thik Macca's the type to tire though,so i'd keep him as he's playig well. Mckenna hasn't played much lately.Simmo might need a break,so Prossy might come in to start. We need to understand when our best players should be left out, even the likes of Aluko and Quinn.
I'm not bothered if he's tired though, as I think he's ****e. Almost gifted Barnsley a goal yesterday. Always looks like he'll do one of them a game, he's just not good enough for me. On the other hand, Faye always looks composed, confortable on the ball and is an absolutle tank (not to mention that he has a goal in him, unlike Macca). We were playing in second gear against Barnsley, Quinn & Aluko should be fine.
To be honest it looked like ye players had their minds set on Tuesday night at half time, 2nd half they didn't play with the same tempo, energy or fire, they looked slow steady patient and comfortable to sit on what we had and conserve themselves for a big game on Tuesday, much to my dismay as I had a stake on hull -1 handicap at 2/1, bunch of ****s.
