Just a thought but do we reckon that he was signed to help Gedo settle in as fast as possible because i honestly cannot see him getting into the team as he plays in elmo's position?

Switch them, if one isn't working. Injuries happen. Change formation, I feel sorry for Rosie as he is on 99 games for us & 299 for his career. He may get lucky & make his 100/300th appearance but can't really see it.

Fathi can play in loads of positions, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in central midfield instead of Evans.

Keeps Elmo and Rosey on their toes.

Competition for places is always good.

Replacement for McKenna (not that he played much) but keeps the depth that he offered, and definitely sits ahead of Olofinjana.

An injury or suspension to Evans or Meyler and he's in.

Plus, without Dudgeon for the season, we're left with cover for both wing backs - Rosie now being cover for the left as opposed to the right.
The depth he offers is brilliant. Instead of having one full back and one defensive mid as depth, we're paying one player to cover both.

Either that or I'm completely wrong and he'll come straight in for Evans.

He'll be great to have on the bench. Instead of having a full back and a centre back on the bench, we can just have Fathi who covers both. That will aloud us to have a extra attacking option instead.

IF he can keep Elmo on the bench for the national team he must be good hopefully right full back/right wing, great partnership

I think he will be in the team as with Gedo, Ahly were reluctant to let them go, and I doubt they'd have been allowed to leave or wanted to come if they knew it was likely they'd have a lot of bench warming time, specially with Egypt's league restarting soon.

I can see a switch of formation possibly on the cards,

    Stockywocky
    Fathi Chester Hobbs Brady
    Elmo Koren Meyler Quinn
    Gedo Aluko/Proschwitz

Obviously we haven't seen the new pair in action, but if we take the Egyptians word for it, that looks one hell of a strong side with a bench of Jak, Stewart, Rosey, Cairney, Evans, Bruce, Simpson/Proschwitz we'd also have great options to bring on and a fully strong squad with proper depth.

Just watched a load of Gedo videos on youtube, 2 in particular stand out as the exact sort of quick striker we need, the one against Ghana and the one against Sunshine in the African Champions League, great goals, fantastic link up play that he's heavily involved with to create it. Alot of the others point out that he's good at edging a step in front of his man and poking away a tap in which is something else we're missing at the moment. If he can get fit and up to speed and the pace of the English game fairly quick, I've got real high hopes for the lad, looks genuinely quality. Alot more exciting than any of the options we had closer to home anyway!

If Gedo gets behind the defence he will always score, unlike Simpson.

Fathi has nearly 100 caps for the best (arguably) team in Africa. He's no mug. May well force his way into the team. If people are keeping him out then they are good and playing well, which, either way, is good news for us.

Very strong looking team on paper. Looking at Gedo's goals on the thread where foxegypt posted them, he seems very calm in front of goal..they were all placed very deliberately into the net, no sign of quick panic-like lashing at the ball, his involvement in the link-ups were evident and his running in to goal scoring positions was excellent. We have a gem here I think, providing he can acclimatize to the crappy weather conditions. That team you set out looks exciting.

Pearls of Wisdom, Mel, Pearls of Wisdom indeed. Unless Simpson fines that vein of form that all strikers can find at the top of their abilities! When you think back over the last 5 years, isn't it strange how Sunderland play such a role in our development - just as they did donkeys years ago! Steve Bruce - Raich Carter - both are and were all about personal ambition - here's hoping! :emoticon-0150-hands

Would we be happy if Gedo scores 8 goals? As i fully expect him to 100%!

One of the Egyptian lads put a link up to a full game which they both played in, it's got lost somewhere in all the threads. But if they read this hopefully they'll repost it. Both players had excellent games. Gedo was like it says above, Fahti is a totally different player to Elmo. He gets stuck into the tackle, runs with the ball. He cuts inside and isn't afraid to have a pop at goal. I think we have two gems here and hopefully they can settle quickly.

Haven't watched the games, but for those worrying about the standard of oppositionthey've played against, Corinthians are a ****ing good side and beating them is testament to how good a team they must be. If gedo and fathi can perform against Corinthians, they can perform against any team in this league. My only worry would be if they have the stamina and are up to the pace and physicality of the English game.
