Found it interesting to see Ahmed Fathi is a right sided player who can play wing and full back. Why would they be looking at him if Elmo's was coming back as Rosenior is a more than capable backup. Your thoughts?

THAT is post of the day.

It's what occurred to me as soon as I heard Fahti was a defensive midfielder or right back.

If Elmo doesn't come back, I'll be upset; become attached to the guy in his time at the KC.

Thanks, not bad for my first one!

Agreed been the main attacking threat in my opinion, also had a great engine rarely missing games.

Players get knocks so even if we get elmo and Fathi they should both get game time. Apth does say that Fathi is better than Elmo.

Fathi did have a trial with Arsenal a few years back and nearly a century of caps for Egypt so the quality is there no doubt but think getting Elmo back should be put first maybe get Fathi at a last resort

The point is, Elmo is a known quantity: he works in our team.

Why replace that with someone who is an unknown quantity?

Reading the posts for the last week I thought it was now established that Elmo can only come back here unless he either stays at Sunderland or goes on an emergency loan somewhere else. Now I don't know the bloke but he seemed pretty happy here and given the choice I reckon he'll want to come back.

It's better to have options than get to the end of the window, waiting to sort out a player & then it all goes tits up & end up with no one, or Sonko.

Agree with this totally, unless SB has decided he won't be held to ransom twice by MON perhaps? Spark a little interest with another player from abroad (regardless of whether Bruce is seriously chasing him or not) and MON to get real on the price or at least get back to 'as you were' with the loan + option. Let's face it if Elmo was in his plans, why only 2 mins at the end of Sunderland's game?

I got the feeling from his interviews with Burns that he was riled that Elmo was recalled. He said the exact opposite, of course, full of gratitude to "Martin". Just something in his tone.

If this is true I'm surprised at this course of action, bit like cutting your nose off to spite your face. Hope I'm wrong.

you said it yourself, fahti is a defensive midfielder or right back. elmo is an attack minded midfielder who does a turn at right back. personally i think it probably suggests that rosenior has rejected his contract offer!!!!
