Fate of Ipswich Town

Discussion in 'Ipswich Town' started by YorkieLancsHampyLondoner, Apr 22, 2012.

?

For next season id like us to start the season...

  1. With all the current personel

  2. With a new manager

  3. With a new Chief Exec and PJ in the dugout

  4. With a new Chief Exec and manager...

  5. Wipe out Evans, Clegg and the management team, start again and suffer the financial consequences...

So things have come to a head and feelings are running high.

Which of the options best describe how you'd like us to start next season?

Sack Jewell and Clegg with immediate effect.

Replace Clegg with Joe Royle as Director of Football.

Replace Jewell with a young, hungry manager like Robinson from MK Dons or go down the experience route and get Coppel in.

Promote Russel Osman to chief scout and head of youth development, sack Steve McCall.

Bust a gut to entice Bryan Klug back as first team coach.

Divert more funding into our youth development system and youth scouting network.

Clear out the deadbeats and deadwood Leadprick, Bowyer, Bullard, Delaney, Murphy & Ellington for starters.

    Just a few ideas!

A policy that states that we will look at lower league players over premiership bench warmers.

Develop a clear and coherent strategy over the medium term say 3 years where improvement is gradual but the fans can at least see that there is a plan in place. Most supporters will accept that we need to see steady improvement rather than the usual nonsense about a dash for the premiership.

When you look at the most successful clubs they have a strategy over and above the manager. If any manager has got a better idea than searching out lower league and foreign talent and bringing through our youngsters then they should never be given the hotseat.

Clegg is a twat, should never have been allowed anywhere near a football club, not a football man, I'd defy anyone, Ipswich supporter or not, to disagree with that...

We'll never get anywhere with Jewell either, tactically inept, does he ever watch dvds of how our next opponents play, and set the team/formation to exploit their weakness's, or make substitutions/tactical changes if "Plan A" isn't working?? Does he ever have a viable "Plan B"

Because that's the mark of a good manager!

I've been at matches at Portman Rd this season where my 15 yr old son has (correctly) pointed out our deficiencies/failings in that particular match, and suggested the obvious substitutions and tactical changes needed long before Jewell has (far too late in the match) implemented the same changes that my son suggested...

We'll probably be ok under PJ of course, if mid-table mediocrity is what we want, and have got this season, and will get next, because I honestly cannot seeing him going pre-season, but for the good of the club, he certainly needs to be replaced...

I'll add another option to employ Welly's 15 year old <ok>

Most of us are old enough to know what it's like to have a good manager in the Town dugout and to know what's right and wrong on the football pitch.

It's obviously a hell of a lot harder to implement it and none of us could conduct a training session or get the players to do what we want, but we are all knowledgable enough to know whats right and wrong on the pitch in front of us and what needs changing.

If we don't seriously get our act together in the summer we will go the way of Coventry next season! There has to be change in management now rather then wait til christmas. Jewell will be in the last year of his contract so he will be under pressure to deliver, I just can't see that he has the know how to deliver what we want.

In terms of tactics I completely agree with you Welly, my 13 year old says the same things! Why have Sonko on the bench and start with Leadprick for example! Why allow Leadprick to take another penalty when he's missed his previous 2! <steam> These are basic errors from Jewell and if you can't get the basics right......!

With regards to penalties, if we haven't got a designated penalty specialist, (which we obviously haven't), I'd rather see someone like Cresswell take them and smash it straight down the middle, three out of five times the goalkeeper will dive to one side and we'll score, if the goalkeeper doesn't move he may save it...

If you're not a penalty specialist blasting it down the middle is statistically the best chance of scoring...

Definitely helps strikers hit that 20 goal mark if they take penalties.

    Sack Clegg the twat now.

I believe he is the reason why there isn't bigger rumblings about Jewell as manager, because i would defy any manager to bring in his preferred personnel with that twat still involved. Yes Jewell has his faults and i'm not 100% happy with him, yet you bring in anybody else and the situation will still be the same!

    Sack Clegg,

Bring in Roy and Jim as joint CEO's and leave Jewell in charge!!

**** no, could you imagine that scenario!!

Sack the lot of them and start again, we can't afford to lose Evans but Cleggy and Jewell can piss off now!!

What gets me is every supporter can see Clegg is a ****ing idiot with no clue about running a football club, yet ME can't. It wouldn't matter if we had Jose Mourinho or Jose from the local tapas bar, we would be ****ed with Cleggy in charge!

In a way that is the only thing that is holding me back from jumping on and driving the Jewell out bandwagon, we need a proper football man at the top first and foremost before we change the manager, then if that doesn't work Jewell has no more excuses and has to go.
