Rangers will have midfielder Lee McCulloch available to face Celtic on Wednesday after the club appealed his red card at St Mirren on Saturday. The experienced McCulloch was dismissed for aiming an elbow at Graham Carey in Rangers' 2-1 defeat in Paisley. The Scottish Football Association will not hear his appeal until 5 January at the earliest, so he can face former club Motherwell at Ibrox on 2 January. But McCulloch was sent off by referee Steven McLean when jostling in the penalty area at a free kick and St Mirren hit back with goals from Aaron Mooy and Paul McGowan late in the first half. And McCoist thought the red card was pivotal to the outcome of the match. "There is no doubt it changed the game," he said. "The ball actually went into the back of the net as well, which a lot of people maybe forget, so it might have been 2-0. (actually Ally the whistle went before the ball went in the net). "I've seen it once and I would have to say it was extremely harsh. "I've had a good chat with Lee McCulloch and he assures me there was no malice at all and he was just trying to fend the boy off. The boy actually had an arm around his waist. (Yes i'm sure you did Ally, and McCulloch's word is to be accepted, as after all, he hardly has a history of being a thug). "I'm a wee bit disappointed with how the boy went down to be honest with you and no physio came on to my knowledge. "It changed the game, there is no doubt about it, and we are disappointed with it." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So Ally is a "wee bit disappointed with how the boy went down to be honest". Now that sounds awfully like Ally is suggesting the lad was cheating or diving to me, it's just a pity he was not so forthcoming when it came to talking about Aluko's PROVEN dive (cheating) a few weeks ago when Ally seemed to take great offense at any Rangers player being called a cheat. Ally's losing it.
"There is nothing i can say on it any more than he probably could have stayed on the park" Ally`s words. That is because he is so used to seeing that happen and his players not being punished.
I read the bit about the ball going into the back of the net........So ****in what!! **** all dignity there.
The dignified club !!! Mccoist not say anything about the two players allowed to stay on ??? Lafferty and Jelavic could both have easily have been sent off as well.
Yea, and we know what fat Sally was thinking "and if we'd had the right referee he would have stayed on the park - think Mr McLean's background should be checked - how did he manage to slip through the net? Thankfully we still have Mr William Collum who hopefully will do a better job on Wednesday to see us through."
Md20/20 practising Rangers song book for tomorrow night !! No doubt the sfa will turn their back on it as per usual or will a Scottish minister praise it like the league cup final, a family atmosphere!!!!!
"My initial reaction was that it was harsh and I still feel that," explained McCoist. "We were in yesterday and myself, Kenny McDowall and Ian Durrant looked at it a few times. "That's why we are exercising our right to appeal it." When put to McCoist that he could be seen to be "pulling a fast one", the Rangers boss said: "I don't agree with that. "That's not true to be honest. I still think Lee's sending-off was harsh."
That incident barely got a mention in the Scottish media , I am sure that game was also a week before an old firm game, the man is a thug . Last time Collum was in charge of an old firm game , mcculloch already booked was allowed to blatantly pull Sammy shirt when he was goal side and got let off .
