Ah well - can complain about the defeat, but not about the way we took the game to Coventry - feels strange to say it but a much better performance.

At least Javi won't be able to stuff around with the defence too much for the next three matches after the red card - should never have dropped Pollock imo...
Definitely was strange. I thought he was strong last time out, as per usual, he's very strong, I'm at a total loss to understand that. But Javi knows best. <ok>

This will seem weird, but I think we have great promise , great spirit, and need only small changes to be in top 6 - as long as we can keep going. Coventry scored 2 scruffy goals, one quite decent one and play with a lot of freedom - good for them. But, on another day we'd have won that 5-3 and would not have a player sent off. (Abankwah does have that rush of blood streak in him.)
However, I think we'll be upper mid table by mid season, and will have ( for a change) a really good 2nd half. Big squad, better cohesion , lot of powerful and quick attackers. Gracia has even got Ince to be effective , which is quite an achievement. One of our 3 CF's needs to be clinical enough to be undroppable ( which one ?) and we have Georgi, Dwomoh and Maamma to come.
And the other bonus is that a 3-1 loss to the top of the table is not surprisinng, and it's only 3 points. I thiunk we've done the diviison a favour - Coventryare getatable !

Utterly agree, JTB. <ok>

That was a strange game. Watford dominated possession until Abankwah was sent off and then Coventry had the greater possession. Coventry were clinical and scored from their only 3 shots on target. Watford had 8 shots on target, but their finishing (especially Vata) was poor and Rushworh (a goalkeeper on loan from Brighton) made some great saves. Watford had more touches in the opposition's penalty area than Coventry and their XG was also much higher.

Some people have pointed out that Sissoko and Kayembe were not at fault with the goals, but too often they were bypassed in midfield (which lacked mobility) and it was Sissoko's backheader which set up Coventry's third goal. Watford appeared more solid defensively after these two players had been substituted, although there may have been other reasons. Perhaps Coventry just eased off when they had a three goal lead.

Vata seems to do better when he doesn’t have to think about how to finish .

We missed Pollock’s and physicality for the first two and Sissoko’s made a hash of the third as you say .

Was in Rhodes for our last three games, Going out was Shef U, very disappointing, Wednesday catching up on the game on the BBC app on my iPhone and a game I wish I hadn't missed

Coming back home following Coventry the BBC app, half time summary was by a previous Coventry goal keeper (cant remember his name) who stated that in every single aspect of a football match Watford totally destroyed Coventry apart from the one thing that mattered, scoring goals that win matches

It was only after Abankwah was sent of that they actually got involved in the game and we still pulled a goal back, IF we had a proven goal scorer instead of relying on individual bits of brilliance from the rest of the team we would be where Coventry are now
