I read this morning that Leeds United’s Italian owner paid £45m to take control in 2017. That’s £45m for a big Championship club who get regular 34,000 attendances.
We are worth roughly the same as what Duchatelet originally paid for Charlton in 2014. Between £14m and £18m. ^^^^ as a Championship club too
Scandalous - nearly 5 months since they showed up at the Play Offs. They have wasted everyone’s time & led the fans on. NLA was right all along A certain somebody else was played like a fiddle - he’s very quiet these days ?
The final nail in the coffin. In tonight's Evening Standard it has been confirmed by the EFL that neither confirmation of funds or who is involved in the consortium has been filed with them.
The Aussies still can’t reveal who their backers are or details of their consortium. We’ve had a very narrow escape with that mob.
When the Aussies contacted Chris Powell about the Charlton job in April, he was lucky CP didn’t quit Southend. He would be eating baked beans on toast for dinner every night now ...
Even if the Aussies had bought Charlton in the summer Powell would still have been right not to quit Southend United. His attachment to them is as strong as to Charlton. Had he walked out on them to join us again I would have questioned his character.
Had a brief scan of all the Charlton media on the way home - Charlton fans seem totally bored with this Aussie farce now. Apathy reigns. What a wasted opportunity..
