You were right all along Royston and I was stupid to believe in them. They are obviously shysters. But I'm convinced now that the whole 'for sale' thing is a sham. Duchatelet will only actually sell if some wealthy fool walks in and slaps £50 million in cash on the table. We know there are such people out there - bored billionaires looking for a toy to amuse them for a year or two. But no reasonable buyer will put up with RD's ridiculous demands.
Pausing to consider whether we actually believe a proven liar....5 potential buyers makes it more likely he will achieve his joke asking price.
The interesting thing about this so called "five bidders" story is the hugely underwhelming reaction its been met with on Charlton social media. A collective yawn. Our fans just don't give a sh1t about this rubbish anymore...particularly where the laughable Aussies and their missing paperwork is concerned.
It's not only the paperwork that's missing with the Aussies ….. I think they are also missing the odd £40m
This will be reflected on Saturday as well, when maybe 7,000 home fans turn up for our 'must win' game against Coventry City. If Charlton fans are as much in love with Lee Bowyer (and his fantastic attacking style of play) as some would have us believe, why are 15,000+ fans not breaking down the turnstiles to get into the ground? Could it be because the all-pervading apathy - fostered for years by an owner who just couldn't give a toss - is much deeper rooted than the enthusiasm for our latest manager on a short run of good form (now over)?
In the real world we all know that our attendances and sadly the resulting fan interest is only going one way - DOWN. That will continue for as long as Duchatelet remains. Even during the blip of the Play Offs last year, half of the Valley was empty. Fans have walked away in droves and found other ways to spend their time and money. The Australians are hugely culpable for this IMO - they absolutely led normal fans on over the summer.
i wouldnt be half surprised if the aussies weren't invented or paid to go along with a fake takeover by RD so that protests waned. if it was really a group of investors, why is it that not a single investor has been named, apart from muir - who's not even putting money in.
The Australian Consortium increasingly remind me of that scene in the Wizard of Oz...the one where Dorothy pulls back the curtain, only to find a baffled old man pulling levers which don't work. In short, there was never anything there in the first place....just the exaggerations of one man ....
A not-so-cryptic Tweet from one of the 7 ex Directors ...Bob Whitehand. He states that the stumbling block to the club being sold is RD's laughable asking price. Nothing to do with missing paperwork. And you would think that Whitehand might know? As he says, it doesn't matter if you have 5 bidders or 20 bidders ....
IF the Aussies agreed to pay Roland's laughable asking price he'll keep asking for it until they pull out officially. It would be a huge relief if they did
this could be a form of gambling. RD wants £40m, but is losing £1m a month. The aussies want to pay £20m knowing that by xmas RD will have forked out close to £10m since they started negotiations. could RD be gambling on what league we'll be in to try and secure a £40m deal? if we dont go up, what will he do?
Lee Bowyer interview in the Standard tonight. “From what I understand, as soon as the Australians put their papers in the club is theirs”
I assume that we have all abandoned hope of Roland selling up in the near future? It doesn't seem to be a subject for discussion any more, yet his ownership is a dark cloud hanging over the Valley. Watching Aribo on Saturday have a storming first half, all you think about is will he go at the beginning or end of January. Same with Stephenson's hat-trick last night, I don't even harbour remote hope of seeing our best players having a long Charlton career, in the way I did with Pope for instance. And I'm not falling for that either!
Yep. Completely disillusioned and unwilling to trust anything that comes out of the Club - from Duchatelet or any of his people.
