ST - you`re a man close to the politics on the upcoming vote for independence. When the parameters around the eligibility of voters was being drawn up any idea on what the thinking was behind excluding Scots living abroad while allowing the taffs, micks, morris dancers and any other johnny foreigner who happens to live in Scotland a vote ? I wasnt bothered at first but now its beginning to piss me off. I`m still a citizen and Ive still got a house there so how come these ****s can vote and I cant ? Jip - please feel free to move this to the Scotch Independence thread when Ive caught STs attention.
You don't live in Jockshire so why should you get a vote? It's not ideal but but it's as fair as possible. GIRFUY
I don't know why ex pats can't vote but I'm glad they can't. I don't want them swaying the vote when the ****s don't have to live with the outcome.
I think it was for the purpose of simplicity. Half the UK could claim a bit of Scots ancestry in them (even me, probably) - trying to work who is and who is not eligible in the same way we do for the likes International Football would be a logistical nightmare, so I think they just said **** it, you simply need to be resident.
I see you have missed the thrust of the question which was why dont I get a vote when I `m still a uk citizen and still own a house there ? But thanks for trying
I could go with that but .... I cant understand why it should be applied to someone who was born, educated and worked/paid taxes there until relatively recently and remains a passport holder with a house still in Scotland. Its got a fishy masonic stink to it.
People that have left their home country to broaden their horizons become undesirables because they can think for themselves, maybe!
I've got a 'knows all the words to all the songs' Weegie mate on the IOM who still has a house in Glasgow. He's still registered to vote and intends to fly in for it
If you choose to live outside the country, why on earth should you have a say on how it is run? Are you Sean Connery?
I maybe wrong but guessing you would return some day so you want a say in what you are returning too?The Yanks can vote when living abroad so why not Scots or Irish for that matter.Start up a party,"Exiles are not just for Christmas".
well yes, that is sort of my point which all these huns are failing to answer due to their shifty masonic ways. UK citizens can also vote from abroad in General or European elections -so bang goes the " you dont live here so cant have a say " argument - but are being denied a vote on this particular issue
I can have a say in both General and European elections. Why should the independence vote be so different ?
Because you don't live here and have no right in deciding on something that has got **** all to do with you ya stinking aborigine **** no go and play knifey-spoony at yabbie creek with Scott and Charlene you absolute throbber ye.
