The man, who cannot be named from legal reasons, must also inform North Yorkshire Police of the woman’s name before engaging in any form of sexual activity. Police officers have also imposed controls on the man’s use of the internet, and insisted that he must tell them every device he owns or has access to that can get online or make contact with other people, York Press reports. North Yorkshire Police had the interim sexual risk order approved by a York magistrate, which will be active until May 19. After that date the court will assess whether or not a full order is required, and how long it should last for. The order states that the man cannot have sexual activity of any kind with a woman unless he informs the local police force. If he is outside the remit of North Yorkshire Police, he must then contact the relevant local police force. A typical breach of a sexual risk order can result in a five-year prison sentence. Police have applied for the civil order despite the man not having been convicted of a sexual offence. However orders of this kind are usually made in cases where police feel the need to protect the wider public.
