After one miss, albeit a terrible one, it's a risky move upping the ante that much

Two actually but he was not on his own. An 'above average' striker would have scored from both Matty Fryatt's chances and the three 'near misses' from Nicky Barmby.
At this level it is inexcusable although perhaps just 'over anxious' in trying to please.

To be fair, only one chance was worth noting as a bad miss, I thought the other one was a decent effort. Better than Fryatt who failed to actually get the shot off.
I'm afraid I have to agree on the striking front, and unless it improves soon I may never see a pensioner stick two didgeridoos up his arse
